Senior Software Engineer — DevOps & Production Reliability
Confidential employer
Asha | 4+ years of hands-on experience
Asha is an AI voice platform that helps businesses automate phone conversations, collect structured information, and connect that information to their business systems.
We’re looking for an experienced developer with a strong DevOps focus to improve our production platform. You’ll build automated testing and deployment workflows, troubleshoot bugs across the backend and website, and help guide architecture decisions as the platform grows. This role requires someone comfortable writing application code and investigating the infrastructure and low-level behavior behind it.
What you’ll do
Build automated unit, integration, end-to-end, regression, and smoke tests that run during development and deployment.
Create test automation for voice calls, conversation flows, API integrations, and downstream CRM, Google Sheets, and calendar updates.
Strengthen CI/CD with reliable checks, reproducible builds, deployment verification, and rollback procedures.
Diagnose and fix production bugs across the Python backend, React frontend, databases, infrastructure, and third-party integrations.
Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance visibility so failures are detected early and traced to their root cause.
Investigate issues involving WebSockets, asynchronous execution, audio streaming, timeouts, concurrency, and connection lifecycle management.
Review production architecture and recommend practical improvements to reliability, scalability, security, maintainability, and cost.
Document operational procedures and work closely with the founder to prioritize and deliver improvements.
Required experience
4+ years of professional, hands-on software engineering experience, including meaningful ownership of production systems.
Strong Python skills, including asynchronous programming, API development, and debugging backend services; experience with FastAPI or a comparable framework.
Hands-on AWS and Docker experience, including container deployments, networking, IAM, logs, and production troubleshooting. Experience with ECS/Fargate and ECR is particularly relevant.
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated testing systems.
Ability to diagnose and fix React and JavaScript issues in a production web application.
Practical experience with PostgreSQL, Redis or Valkey, and distributed data consistency.
Strong systems fundamentals: Linux, processes and threads, event loops, memory and CPU profiling, TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, DNS, and WebSockets.
Experience investigating race conditions, resource leaks, blocking operations, dropped connections, and performance bottlenecks.
Experience integrating external APIs and handling OAuth, webhooks, rate limits, retries, and duplicate prevention.
Ability to evaluate architecture tradeoffs and deliver incremental improvements to an existing production system.
Clear communication, strong ownership, and evidence of personally building, deploying, and supporting working software.
You should have strong experience with the core engineering and infrastructure technologies. Prior experience with every individual provider is not required.
Helpful additional experience
Real-time voice, telephony, streaming audio, or conversational AI systems.
Low-level programming in C, C++, Rust, or Go, especially for networking, concurrency, or performance work.
Infrastructure as code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
Load testing, failure simulation, synthetic monitoring, and automated evaluations of AI behavior.
