About the Role

Instagram Reels Video Editor for UK Travel Brand – Ongoing Work

We’re looking for a talented and reliable video editor to help create short-form Instagram Reels for our growing UK travel account.

We’re a UK couple creating travel content primarily for people working normal 9–5 jobs, showing them how to travel more through cheap weekend trips, smart use of annual leave and affordable flights from UK airports.

We’re looking to start with approximately 2 edited Reels per week, with the potential for more regular work if we find the right person.

What you’ll be doing

We will provide the raw travel footage, along with a brief, concept, hook and general direction for each Reel.

Your role will be to turn that footage into high-quality, engaging short-form travel content designed specifically for Instagram.

This will include:

  • Editing approximately 2 Instagram Reels per week initially
  • Selecting the strongest clips from the footage provided
  • Creating engaging edits that retain attention
  • Adding on-screen text and captions where required
  • Matching cuts/transitions to music and audio
  • Strong colour correction and colour grading
  • Improving the overall visual quality of our travel footage
  • Understanding pacing and retention for short-form social content
  • Following our existing editing style while also bringing your own ideas
  • Making reasonable revisions following feedback

Most Reels will be relatively short, but some may include longer voiceovers or more detailed travel storytelling.

What we’re looking for

You should have:

  • Strong experience editing Instagram Reels / TikTok / short-form video
  • Excellent skills using professional video-editing software
  • Very good colour-grading and colour-correction skills
  • A strong understanding of hooks, pacing and viewer retention
  • Good attention to detail
  • The ability to make travel footage look polished without making it look unnatural
  • Reliable communication and the ability to meet agreed deadlines
  • The ability to follow a detailed creative brief
  • An understanding of current short-form editing styles

Excellent written and spoken English is essential. Our audience is predominantly UK-based, so you need to be confident understanding English instructions, voiceovers, humour and on-screen copy. You should also be able to spot spelling or grammatical mistakes rather than simply copying them into an edit.

We’re particularly interested in someone who takes the time to understand why a Reel is being created rather than simply putting clips together.

Editing style

Our content isn’t about excessive effects or flashy transitions.

We prefer:

Clean. Fast-paced. Professional. Natural.

We want the destination and story to be the focus.

Good clip selection, pacing, music, colour grading and storytelling are much more important to us than adding effects for the sake of it.

If you’ve worked with travel creators, tourism brands or other social-media creators, please mention this somewhere in your application. Also include the word “weekend” fairly early in your application so we know you’ve read the requirements carefully.

To apply

Please send:

1. A short introduction about yourself and your editing experience.
2. Examples of 3–5 short-form videos/Reels you have personally edited.
3. Details of the editing software you use.
4. Your experience with colour grading.
5. Your usual turnaround time for a Reel once footage is supplied.
6. Your expected rate for 2 Reels per week / approximately 8 Reels per month.
7. Whether you’re interested in this becoming ongoing work.

We’re much more interested in seeing a few excellent examples than receiving a huge portfolio.

Please don’t send a generic copy-and-paste application. We will be looking carefully at attention to detail, communication and whether you’ve understood what we’re trying to create.

One final detail: applicants who are genuinely interested in working with us should begin their entire application with the word “winner”. This is intentionally mentioned near the end of the brief because attention to detail will be an important part of the role.

We’re hoping to find somebody we can build a long-term working relationship with as our accounts and travel business continue to grow.
