Jr. Estimator

We are a multi-state commercial door and loading dock company. We supply, install, and service overhead doors, rolling steel doors, coiling grilles, fire doors, loading dock equipment, and HVLS fans. We are hiring a remote estimator to support our commercial bid team.

Type: Remote, full time contract
Pay: $3.00-$6.00 per hour
Schedule: Must overlap at least [4 to 6] hours with US Central time (UTC-5 or UTC-6) for bid deadlines and team calls.

Responsibilities

Review commercial plans and specs and perform quantity takeoffs for door and dock scopes (CSI 08 33 00, 08 36 00, 11 13 00).
Identify scope, exclusions, and risks in bid documents, and write clear proposals with accurate inclusions and clarifications.
Request and compare vendor pricing from manufacturers such as Clopay, Cornell, and Cookson.
Prepare and submit bids on deadline, managing several bids at the same time.
Track bid status and follow up on open quotes.
Answer RFIs and communicate scope questions to the US team in writing.

Requirements

[3 to 5]+ years of commercial construction estimating, ideally in doors, docks, glazing, or a related trade.
Strong plan reading and quantity takeoff skills on US commercial drawings.
Working knowledge of CSI MasterFormat and US construction terminology.
Proficient in Excel and a PDF takeoff tools
Fluent written English. Proposals go out under our company name.
Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated workspace.

Nice to have
Experience with rolling steel, fire-rated doors, or dock levelers.
Familiarity with US codes and ratings that drive door selection, such as wind load, fire rating, and insulation requirements.
Experience with ---------- or similar bid tracking tools.
