Senior FP&A Analyst – Strategic Finance & Financial Modeling
Location: Remote – Philippines
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: U.S. Pacific Time / Philippine Graveyard Shift
Compensation: $10–$12 USD per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and financial modeling capabilities
About the Role
A growing U.S.-based company is looking for a highly analytical Senior FP&A Analyst with strong financial modeling experience to support management with forecasting, pricing, profitability analysis, scenario modeling, and strategic financial planning.
This is not a bookkeeping, general accounting, or basic financial reporting position.
We are looking for someone who can take financial and operational data, build models from scratch, identify what is driving the results, and help management determine what actions should be taken next.
The right person should be comfortable answering questions such as:
- What happens to gross margin if selling price, product cost, freight, tariffs, or volume changes?
- What selling price is required to achieve a target gross margin?
- Which products or customers are generating the strongest and weakest profitability?
- What is driving the difference between actual results, forecast, and budget?
- What combination of revenue growth, pricing, margin improvement, product mix, and cost reductions is required to achieve an EBITDA target?
- Where are the biggest financial opportunities or risks management should be focused on?
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain integrated financial models for revenue, gross profit, gross margin, operating expenses, and EBITDA.
- Develop annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and longer-term financial projections.
- Build pricing and profitability models using selling price, product cost, freight, duties/tariffs, landed cost, volume, and other business drivers.
- Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis for changes in pricing, volume, product mix, freight, sourcing, costs, and other assumptions.
- Develop models comparing different shipping and sourcing scenarios and their impact on landed cost and profitability.
- Determine required selling prices to achieve target gross margins.
- Analyze actual results versus budget and forecast and clearly explain the drivers behind variances.
- Develop EBITDA bridge and gap-to-target analysis.
- Analyze profitability by product, customer, and business line.
- Analyze historical customer purchasing behavior to identify trends, declining customers, cross-selling opportunities, and potential areas for revenue growth.
- Support working-capital analysis, including accounts receivable, inventory, and accounts payable.
- Build management dashboards and financial reporting that highlight trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Work with large datasets from accounting, ERP, sales, and operational systems.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis for management.
- Present findings clearly and provide actionable recommendations rather than simply reporting numbers.
- Help improve and automate existing financial models and reporting processes.
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, strategic finance, financial modeling, or a closely related role.
- Strong experience building financial models from scratch.
- Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills.
- Strong understanding of P&L, revenue, COGS, gross margin, EBITDA, operating expenses, cash flow, and working capital.
- Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario modeling.
- Experience with pricing, profitability, margin, or unit-economics analysis.
- Ability to work with large datasets and turn them into useful financial insights.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to identify issues and opportunities proactively rather than waiting for management to request an analysis.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Comfortable working directly with finance leadership and management.
- Must be comfortable working full-time U.S. Pacific Time hours / Philippine graveyard shift.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CMA, CFA, MBA, or similar finance/accounting qualification.
- Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, or similar analytics tools.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or ERP systems.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, inventory-based businesses, or e-commerce.
- Experience with landed-cost modeling, freight/logistics, duties, or tariffs.
- Experience with customer and product profitability analysis.
- Experience using AI or automation tools to improve financial analysis and reporting.
What Success Looks Like
We are not looking for someone who simply prepares reports.
We want someone who can look at the numbers and tell management:
What happened? Why did it happen? What is likely to happen next? What should we do about it?
You should be comfortable challenging assumptions, identifying unusual trends, and bringing issues or opportunities to management before being asked.
How to Apply
Please include the following with your application:
1. Your resume.
2. Your expected hourly rate in USD.
3. Confirmation that you are comfortable working full-time U.S. Pacific Time / Philippine graveyard shift.
4. A sample financial model that you personally built. You may remove or hide any confidential company or client information.
5. A brief explanation of what the model was designed to accomplish and which portions you personally built.
Applications without a financial modeling sample may not be considered.
Shortlisted candidates should be prepared to discuss their model and explain the assumptions, formulas, drivers, scenarios, and conclusions during the interview.
