Creative Brand Growth & Social Media Assistant
Confidential employer
Remote | Approximately 25 Hours Per Week
Weekly Pay: $100 USD Fixed
Availability Required: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Time
About the Position
I am looking for a highly motivated, creative, and self-driven Brand & Social Media Assistant to join a growing product based ecommerce business on a long term basis.
This position combines graphic design, social media, branding, creative strategy, and general business improvement.
I already have an established professional brand identity, including logos, typography, colors, patterns, templates, and overall visual direction. I am not looking for someone to create a new brand from scratch.
I am looking for someone who can quickly learn the existing business and brand, understand how everything works together, and actively help take it to the next level.
This is not a position where you will simply wait for me to send individual design assignments. I need someone who can think independently, identify opportunities, contribute ideas, and continuously look for ways to improve the business and brand.
Compensation & Schedule
The pay for this position is a fixed $100 USD per week.
This rate is set and is not negotiable.
Please only apply if you are comfortable with the compensation before submitting your application.
The expected workload is approximately 25 hours per week.
You must have flexible availability between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.
You do not need to work continuously throughout this entire window, but your schedule must overlap enough that you are reasonably available for communication, assignments, feedback, revisions, and time sensitive needs throughout the Pacific Time workday.
Ability to Learn and Ramp Quickly
One of the most important requirements for this position is the ability to absorb information quickly.
There will be a significant amount to learn when you first begin, including:
- Brand guidelines
- Design preferences
- Existing templates
- Product types
- Social media processes
- Product launches
- Previous designs
- Customer communication styles
- Business processes
- Marketing strategies
- Different types of announcements and content
I need someone who can digest this information, retain it, and begin applying it quickly.
I do not want to repeatedly explain the same processes, preferences, or instructions.
You should be able to review previous examples, understand feedback, recognize patterns, and apply what you have learned when approaching future assignments.
As you become familiar with the business, you should require less direction and become increasingly independent.
Understand and Elevate the Brand
Following the brand guide is only the starting point.
I am looking for someone who can genuinely understand the brand and help elevate it.
You should understand why certain colors, typography, layouts, graphics, and visual elements work rather than simply copying elements from the brand guide into every design.
Your work should help make the overall brand feel:
- More recognizable
- More cohesive
- More polished
- More professional
- More intentional
- More premium
- More consistent across platforms
I want someone who can creatively expand the existing branding while still respecting the established identity.
You should also be comfortable experimenting with different brand elements, layouts, and concepts rather than making every design look the same.
Independent Work Is Required
I am specifically looking for someone who can work independently.
I do not want to babysit, micromanage, or constantly tell you what you should be doing next.
I will provide priorities, information, deadlines, feedback, and direction when needed. However, you should be capable of managing your responsibilities without constant supervision.
You should be able to:
- Take ownership of assignments
- Determine appropriate next steps
- Make reasonable creative decisions
- Manage your own workload
- Keep track of deadlines
- Follow through without repeated reminders
- Review your own work before submitting it
- Recognize when something could be improved
- Solve smaller problems independently
- Ask thoughtful questions when clarification is genuinely needed
Questions are encouraged when something is unclear. However, I am not looking for someone who needs approval or instructions for every small decision.
Self-Driven Mindset
Being self-driven is essential for this role.
I want someone who actively thinks about the business while they are working rather than only completing a checklist.
You should regularly be thinking:
- What could we improve?
- What could make the brand look stronger?
- Is there a better way to present this product?
- What content should we be creating?
- What could improve the Instagram feed?
- Are there templates we should create?
- Is something inconsistent with the brand?
- Could an existing process or design be improved?
- Is there something the business is currently missing?
- What ideas could help increase brand awareness?
I want someone who notices opportunities and brings them forward.
You should feel comfortable saying, “I noticed this and think we could improve it by doing this.”
That type of initiative is highly valued.
What to Do When There Is No Active Assignment
There may occasionally be periods where there is no immediate launch graphic, announcement, or specific assignment waiting for you.
That does not mean there is nothing to work on.
If your assigned work is complete, I expect you to use your remaining working time productively by identifying opportunities for general improvement.
This could include:
- Reviewing the social media feed and identifying areas for improvement
- Developing new social media concepts
- Creating ideas for recurring content
- Improving or organizing Canva templates
- Reviewing existing branding for inconsistencies
- Brainstorming marketing ideas
- Researching relevant social media trends
- Developing packaging concepts
- Improving existing graphics
- Organizing creative assets
- Creating future templates
- Reviewing comparable brands for inspiration
- Brainstorming ways to improve the customer experience
- Identifying areas where the brand could feel more cohesive
- Developing ideas for future promotions or campaigns
- Suggesting improvements to existing processes
I should not need to constantly create busy work or tell you how to fill every working hour.
Part of this role is being able to identify meaningful work independently.
Bring Ideas for Growth
I am looking for someone who wants to contribute to the growth of the business, not simply execute designs.
You should be willing to bring your own ideas for:
- Growing brand awareness
- Improving social media
- Increasing engagement
- Creating stronger product launches
- Building customer loyalty
- Developing recurring content
- Improving packaging and presentation
- Creating a more memorable customer experience
- Making the brand more recognizable
- Improving existing marketing materials
- Exploring new creative opportunities
Not every idea will necessarily be implemented, but I want someone who actively thinks creatively and strategically about the company.
Creative & Social Media Responsibilities
Projects may include:
- Instagram feed posts
- Instagram Stories
- Reel covers
- Product launch graphics
- Presale announcements
- Restock announcements
- In hand sale graphics
- Coming soon posts
- Production updates
- Giveaways
- Event announcements
- Product and collection spotlights
- Informational graphics
- Website banners
- Email marketing graphics
- Packaging concepts
- Product backing cards
- Thank you cards
- Business cards
- Order inserts
- Event signage
- Vendor materials
- Promotional materials
- Reusable templates
- General brand development
Responsibilities will vary depending on launches, events, and current business priorities.
Canva Experience Is Essential
Strong Canva experience is required.
Canva is a major part of the workflow because many recurring materials need to remain editable and reusable by the team.
You should be comfortable:
- Designing professionally from scratch in Canva
- Working within existing Canva files
- Creating reusable templates
- Following established branding
- Organizing Canva projects properly
- Working with product photography
- Creating strong visual hierarchy
- Resizing and adapting designs
- Building files that other team members can easily edit
Canva should be a platform you are genuinely experienced designing in.
Adobe Experience
Experience with Adobe Illustrator is highly preferred for more advanced creative needs, including:
- Vector artwork
- Packaging layouts
- Print collateral
- Brand assets
- Product materials
- Preparing professional print files
Experience with Adobe Express is also preferred for digital content, resizing, social media assets, and quick creative adaptations.
Social Media Knowledge
Strong familiarity with Instagram and social media content is important.
You should understand how to create an overall recognizable social presence rather than simply designing individual posts.
You should be comfortable thinking about:
- Feed cohesion
- Brand recognition
- Visual storytelling
- Product presentation
- Engagement
- Promotional strategy
- Content variety
- Recurring content ideas
- Social media trends
- Creative launch concepts
I expect you to contribute ideas for social media rather than relying entirely on me to determine what should be posted.
Communication
WhatsApp is required and will be the primary form of day to day communication.
You should:
- Check messages regularly during your working availability
- Be reasonably responsive during Pacific Time
- Communicate clearly
- Provide progress updates when appropriate
- Tell me about potential delays before deadlines are missed
- Ask questions when something is genuinely unclear
- Communicate proactively rather than waiting for me to follow up
