Senior WordPress Developer — Website Rebuild, Mobile UX and Technical SEO
Confidential employer
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on WordPress developer who can take ownership of improving our website: ---------- .
Our current website needs substantial work. It has unfinished templates, mobile usability problems, broken links and calls to action, slow pages, inconsistent SEO settings, and unresolved issues from a previous Shopify website.
We have a detailed audit. We need someone who can assess what should be repaired or rebuilt, recommend a practical approach, and implement it.
What you’ll do
Assess the current WordPress setup and recommend a repair or rebuild plan.
Create a clean, consistent, mobile-first website that clearly explains our software.
Fix navigation, page layouts, placeholders, broken links and demo/contact paths.
Build product and audience pages using content and product information we provide.
Improve page speed and basic accessibility.
Correct page titles, descriptions, structured data, sitemaps, redirects and other technical SEO issues.
Help resolve old Shopify URLs and search results through proper migration cleanup and Google Search Console.
Set up or repair GA4/GTM tracking and verify that forms and bookings work.
Use staging, backups and testing, and document your work so the site remains maintainable.
We will pause the chatbot while the website is being improved. Chatbot redevelopment is outside this initial project.
What we’re looking for
Strong hands-on WordPress development experience.
Good HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP skills.
Experience building responsive websites that work well on phones.
Ability to troubleshoot beyond the page-builder interface.
Practical technical SEO and website migration experience.
Experience improving speed using PageSpeed Insights or Lighthouse.
Working knowledge of Google Search Console, GA4 and Google Tag Manager.
Clear written English, dependable communication and the ability to work independently.
Willingness to explain your recommendations in straightforward business terms.
Our current setup includes Elementor, Avada/Fusion, WooCommerce, Rank Math, Contact Form 7, Calendly and a custom plugin. You do not need experience with every tool, but please tell us which you know well.
Experience with B2B software websites or Shopify-to-WordPress migrations is a plus.
How we’ll work
You’ll work directly with a small-business owner. We will provide product knowledge, content approval and access needed for the agreed work.
We’ll begin with a small paid engagement to assess the site and confirm the approach. We’ll then agree on deliverables, milestones, hours and timeline before committing to the larger project.
Please tell us your realistic weekly availability. We expect one short weekly call at a mutually convenient time with a US Pacific time contact, plus brief written updates. Daily overnight availability is not required.
Successful completion may lead to ongoing website maintenance work.
This role does not include paid advertising, backlink campaigns, extensive original copywriting or development of our core software product.
