Hiring a Short-Form Video Editor for a Content Creator

You will be editing short-form videos for Instagram Reels and TikTok using CapCut Desktop.

The editing process is fairly simple and straightforward. Anyone proficient in short-form video editing should be comfortable with the basic tasks, including:

• Cutting dead space and selecting the best takes
• Adding B-roll over talking-head footage
• Adding images, screenshots, graphics, and other overlays when appropriate
• Creating clean TikTok/Reels-style captions
• Minor effects such as dynamic zooms, cropping, transitions, etc.
• Adding music and sound effects when appropriate
• Taking raw footage, B-roll, and assets and turning them into a finished video
• Understanding what is being said and proactively finding appropriate B-roll or visual assets

You will primarily be editing content in the men's self-improvement / lifestyle space.

Requirements

• HIGH AGENCY & PROACTIVE — I do not want to micromanage. You should be able to receive raw footage and assets and complete the video with minimal guidance.
• 2+ years of short-form video editing experience preferred
• Experience editing men's self-improvement/lifestyle content is a plus
• Comfortable using CapCut Desktop
• Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and short-form content
• Fluent/strong English
• Consistent work ethic
• End-to-end video delivery: raw footage + assets → completed video
• Fast turnaround time — ideally 24–48 hours
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills
• Ability to learn quickly and implement feedback
• Strong internet connection
• Comfortable communicating through [TELEGRAM / WHATSAPP / ---------- ]
• Available for occasional Google Meet feedback/training calls
• Looking for someone interested in a long-term working relationship

The current target is approximately 10 edited videos per week across two social media accounts.

Compensation

Starting compensation: $400/month

There is significant opportunity for increased compensation as you improve, understand the editing style, and take on more responsibility.

I'd rather pay more for an excellent, reliable editor than pay less for someone who requires constant supervision.

PAID Editing Assignment

You will be paid $5 for the completed recreation assignment.

Assignment Instructions

1. Download the raw footage and assets.
2. Import everything into CapCut Desktop.
3. Review the corresponding finished reference video.
4. Find the strongest takes and edit them together.
5. Match the pacing and overall editing style of the reference.
6. Add B-roll, images, screenshots, or other overlays when appropriate.
7. Add captions, music, sound effects, zooms, crops, etc. where appropriate.
8. Pay close attention to the timing and placement of every visual.
9. Recreate the reference video as accurately as possible — or make it better.
10. Upload your completed video to Google Drive and send me a shareable link.

One completed recreation is enough.

If You Get Hired

The first stage will be a paid trial period.

During the trial, I will provide raw footage, reference videos, B-roll, and other assets. You'll be responsible for turning those materials into finished short-form videos.

You'll receive feedback so you can learn my exact editing style. The goal is eventually for you to understand the content well enough that I can upload the raw files and trust you to handle the edit from beginning to end.
