About the Role

Met Company provides industrial fabrication, modular/container structures, equipment enclosures, power-distribution housings, manufacturing, installation and field services.

We are seeking an electrical engineering professional to provide specialized design, analysis and technical coordination when projects require electrical engineering support.

Role Overview

You will support electrical systems associated with power distribution centers, equipment enclosures, industrial assemblies and modular structures.

Working under the Director of Technical Services, you will coordinate with CAD/design personnel, structural and mechanical specialists, equipment suppliers and Houston production staff. Assignments will depend on project requirements and your demonstrated expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Analysis

  • Review customer specifications, electrical requirements and available equipment information.
  • Develop electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, schedules and technical specifications within the assigned scope.
  • Prepare load calculations and evaluate equipment ratings and system requirements.
  • Perform load-flow, short-circuit and protective-device coordination studies when required and within your qualifications.
  • Evaluate grounding, bonding, cable sizing and routing requirements.
  • Recommend suitable electrical equipment and components based on approved project criteria.
  • Document assumptions, inputs and conclusions clearly.

Engineering & Fabrication Coordination

  • Coordinate equipment dimensions, access clearances, cable entries and interfaces with the CAD and fabrication teams.
  • Review drawings for electrical conflicts or missing information before production.
  • Coordinate electrical requirements with structural, mechanical and architectural personnel.
  • Review supplier drawings and technical submittals for consistency with project requirements.
  • Support constructability reviews, including installation access and maintenance requirements.
  • Identify technical issues requiring customer clarification or engineering approval.

Technical Documentation & Project Support

  • Respond to assigned RFIs, submittal comments and technical questions.
  • Prepare drawing markups, calculation packages and equipment specifications.
  • Review proposed substitutions and revisions for electrical implications.
  • Use field measurements, photos and inspection information supplied by onsite personnel.
  • Support testing and commissioning planning, documentation and troubleshooting within the agreed scope.
  • Maintain organized records of calculations, drawings, revisions and technical decisions.
  • Communicate unresolved issues and schedule risks promptly to Technical Services leadership.

Codes, Specifications & Quality

  • Identify applicable electrical codes, standards and customer requirements.
  • Check technical deliverables for accuracy and completeness before submission.
  • Coordinate with appropriately licensed professionals for work requiring signatures, seals or jurisdiction-specific approvals.
  • Support resolution of electrical design or installation discrepancies through documented technical review.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial or commercial electrical design.
  • Strong understanding of three-phase power, distribution equipment, grounding and protection fundamentals.
  • Ability to read and prepare electrical drawings, schematics and single-line diagrams.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or comparable drafting software.
  • Familiarity with applicable NEC, NFPA, IEEE and ANSI requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and documentation practices.
  • Clear written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently within an assigned project scope.
  • Reliable internet connection and availability for agreed coordination with the Houston team.

Preferred Experience

  • Power distribution centers, electrical equipment enclosures or modular electrical buildings.
  • Switchgear, transformers, motor control centers and protective devices.
  • ETAP, SKM PowerTools or comparable electrical analysis software.
  • Coordination with fabrication shops, equipment manufacturers and installation teams.
  • Testing, commissioning or technical submittal review.
  • Experience supporting U.S. industrial projects.
  • Relevant professional registration or licensure.

Professional Responsibility

Applicants should state their professional registrations and licensing jurisdictions. Work requiring a professional signature or seal must be completed by an appropriately licensed professional for the project jurisdiction. This support role does not independently authorize sealed deliverables.

What Success Looks Like

  • Technical deliverables are accurate, clearly documented and completed on time.
  • Electrical requirements are coordinated with enclosure and fabrication drawings.
  • Equipment interfaces and installation conflicts are resolved before production.
  • RFIs and technical questions receive clear, timely responses.
  • Revisions and engineering decisions remain traceable.
