About the Role

I’m looking for a game UI/UX designer with a strong visual eye to help polish the interface of a roguelike indie game currently in active development.

The main priority is making the UI look attractive, cohesive, and polished. I want someone who can look at the current interface, spot what feels rough or visually awkward, and recommend specific changes that make it look and feel better.

You’ll review early builds and help refine everything from typography and spacing to colors, menus, and combat screens. Usability matters, but this role puts a strong emphasis on visual presentation.

What You’ll Help Improve

Overall visual polish: Make the interface feel intentional, cohesive, and ready for players.
Spacing and alignment: Clean up cramped layouts, uneven margins, and awkward positioning.
Color and contrast: Refine the palette so the UI looks appealing and communicates information clearly.
Menus and panels: Improve the presentation of inventory, character stats, abilities, upgrades, and other screens.
Combat screens: Make complex information look organized and easy to scan.
Visual consistency: Give buttons, borders, highlights, tooltips, and selected states a consistent style.
Navigation and player flow: Identify confusing interactions and unnecessary steps.

I’m looking for more than bug reports or general feedback like “this screen looks cluttered.” I want concrete design recommendations, annotated screenshots, or mockups that show how to improve it.

What I’m Looking For

A strong eye for visual design and game UI
Experience improving existing UI while preserving the game’s visual identity
Strong judgment about typography, layout, spacing, color, and visual hierarchy
Ability to explain your recommendations clearly and provide actionable examples
Comfort working with early builds and evolving systems

Experience with roguelikes, RPGs, or text-heavy interfaces is a strong bonus. You should understand how to make information-rich screens look appealing without sacrificing readability.

To Apply, Please Include

1. A short summary of your game UI/UX or visual design experience
2. Your portfolio, preferably with game interfaces or before-and-after examples
3. Examples of roguelikes or RPGs you’ve played, tested, or designed
4. Your availability
5. Your hourly rate in USD
