Short-Form Video Editor + Content Researcher - Running / Fitness Niche

About the role

I'm growing a personal Instagram account in the running and fitness space — lifestyle-driven, authentic content rather than heavily produced videos.

I'm looking for someone to help me research what's working in the niche and turn my raw footage into Reels at a consistent volume.

This is two jobs in one, and I need both:

Research — you stay close to what's performing in running and fitness Reels and document it.
Editing — you take my footage and cut it into short-form Reels.

If you're strong at one and weak at the other, this probably isn't the right fit.

What you'll do
Spend focused time daily inside running and fitness content on Instagram, tracking what's performing and why.
Keep a shared research doc organized and current so we always have a running list of ideas to pull from.
Edit short-form vertical Reels from an organized library of my raw footage.
Write natural, native-sounding on-screen text. This matters a lot — a strong edit with a weak or stiff hook won't perform.
Deliver consistently at volume. This isn't one polished video a week.
Keep our tracker updated so we both know where every video stands.

You'll send me work for review, I'll approve or give notes, and we'll keep a steady loop going. Async is fine — I don't need you online at set hours, but I do need you responsive and consistent with deadlines.

What I'm looking for
Real experience editing short-form vertical video for Instagram Reels or TikTok. Portfolio required.
Fluent, natural written English — you'll be writing text that has to sound like a native speaker wrote it.
Comfort in CapCut and/or Premiere Pro. After Effects is a bonus, not a requirement.
A genuine feel for hooks, pacing, and retention. You can look at a Reel and explain why it held attention.
Organized and self-directed. Trackers and docs stay current without me chasing you.
Reliable communication. If something slips, you tell me before I have to ask.

Bonus points:

You run, or you're into fitness generally. You'll be watching this content daily — it helps if you actually enjoy it.
Experience helping grow an account from a small starting point, personal or client.
You already have a system for finding trending content and audio.

Details:

Pay based on experience. Tell me your rate. I'd rather pay well for someone genuinely good than hire cheap and redo the work.
Long-term intent. I'm looking to build something with someone over time, not fill a one-off gig.
Paid test project before any ongoing commitment, so we both know it's a fit.
