Premium Video Editor for Personal Brand — Premiere Pro + After Effects | Long-Term
Confidential employer
I’m looking for a high-quality video editor to join my team long-term and help edit content for my personal brand.
This is NOT a position for someone who just knows how to cut videos or add captions.
I’m looking for an editor who understands:
- retention
- storytelling
- pacing
- clean motion graphics
- sound design
- B-roll selection
- visual hierarchy
- how to make educational/business content feel premium
The editing style is not complex but it's clean, modern and professional.
I do NOT want videos overloaded with random effects, memes, constant transitions or unnecessary animations.
Every editing decision should have a reason.
The goal of the content
The videos should feel:
- engaging
- premium
- easy to understand
- high-retention
- professional
- clean
The audience is mainly business owners, founders, marketers and people interested in content/advertising.
I will provide detailed references, branding, B-roll, music references and editing guidelines.
What I’m looking for
You should be comfortable with:
Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects or Both Ideally
I strongly prefer editors using these two programs because I want clean, professional motion graphics and the ability to share/project-manage files when necessary.
You should know how to create:
- smooth motion graphics
- clean typography
- professional captions
- animated charts/numbers
- simple 2D animations
- masking
- tracking
- clean zooms
- screen replacements
- basic compositing
- good sound design
- good color correction
- smooth transitions when necessary
You do NOT need to create extremely complex animations.
I care much more about taste and decision-making than making something complicated.
Editing philosophy
1. The hook matters most
The first 3–15 seconds are extremely important.
The opening should:
- grab attention quickly
- have strong pacing
- use good visual changes
- include clean SFX where appropriate
- create curiosity
- feel creative without becoming overwhelming
I want an editor who understands that the purpose of the hook is not simply to add effects.
It should give the viewer a reason to keep watching.
2. Editing should support the message
B-roll should actually relate to what is being said.
If I mention a company, show the company.
If I mention analytics, show analytics.
If I explain a process, visualize the process.
I strongly prefer real footage, screenshots and relevant visuals over random stock footage.
3. Premium > flashy
The content should look expensive and intentional without looking over-edited.
Element placement, spacing, typography and alignment matter a lot.
Animations need to be smooth.
No sloppy frames, bad masking, incorrect safe zones, random colors or inconsistent branding.
4. Keep the edit varied
Do not use the exact same:
- zoom
- animation
- sound effect
- text treatment
every 10 seconds.
The video should stay visually interesting without feeling repetitive.
5. Audio matters
Voice should always be clean and easy to understand.
Music should match the emotion of the section.
The type of music I normally use includes:
- cinematic
- instrumental
- classical
- technological / modern
- subtle emotional music
Sound effects should support important moments, not play constantly.
6. Tight pacing
Remove:
- unnecessary pauses
- mistakes
- repeated sentences
- boring moments
But don't destroy natural speaking rhythm just to make everything faster.
The goal is:
constant progression without overwhelming the viewer.
References
I have a full editing guide, references and examples that I will provide to selected applicants.
Editing guide:
[YOUR GOOGLE DOC]
Music references:
[YOUR MUSIC FOLDER]
Personal B-roll library:
[YOUR B-ROLL FOLDER]
Please actually study the references before editing.
I want someone who can match the quality/style, not someone who ignores the references and edits everything in their own style.
Very important: portfolio
Do not apply if you cannot show videos similar to the style described above.
I specifically want to see:
- business/personal-brand content
- clean motion graphics
- premium educational videos
- talking-head content
- YouTube content
- professional short-form content
If your portfolio is mainly:
- gaming videos
- meme edits
- anime edits
- wedding videos
- basic CapCut captions
this probably isn’t the right position.
I would rather see 3 excellent, relevant videos than a folder with 50 random edits.
Work & payment
This can become a consistent long-term position.
If you're good, reliable and fast, I will have ongoing work for you.
Compensation will depend on:
- quality
- speed
- reliability
- how many revisions are needed
- complexity of the videos
- volume you can handle
For the right editor, this can grow to $500+/month, with room to increase a lot more as you take on more work and responsibility.
I care about building long-term relationships with editors rather than constantly finding new freelancers.
We'll start with a paid test project before committing to larger volumes.
What I value beyond editing
Technical skill is important.
But I also care heavily about:
- replying consistently
- meeting deadlines
- telling me early if something will be late
- taking feedback well
- learning from previous revisions
- attention to detail
- improving from video to video
If I give the same correction five times, that's a problem.
I want someone who learns my style and gradually needs less supervision, not more.
How to apply
Start your application with:
PREMIUM
If you don't start with this word, I will assume you didn't read the job post.
Then send me:
1. Link to your 3 best and most relevant videos you edited that match the style I'm looking for
2. Your experience with Premiere Pro & After effects
3. Your typical turnaround time for a 5–10 minute YouTube video
4. How many videos you can realistically handle per week
Do not send me a generic ChatGPT application.
I will be looking at your portfolio first.
If your work matches what I’m looking for, I’ll contact you for a test.
