Klaviyo EDM Lifecycle & Retention Strategist — Agency Experience,
Confidential employer
Please send your application to ---------- the role
We’re looking for an experienced email retention strategist to help guide lifecycle marketing across multiple ecommerce sites.
You’ll review strategies, identify opportunities and risks, and shape recommendations grounded in customer behavior and account performance. You’ll also work with our AI development and product teams, sharing practical experience and turning your judgment into guidelines, examples, and feedback that help improve our tools and workflows.
What you’ll own
- Strategy review: Evaluate audience definitions, automated email flows, and campaign calendars. Explain what needs to change and why.
- Audience and frequency decisions: Define who receives each message, who is excluded, how often they receive it, and what conditions should change those decisions.
- Performance diagnosis: Identify whether weak results come from limited reach, targeting, frequency, content, deliverability, or misleading measurement.
- Account transitions: Guide strategy when accounts migrate platforms, restart after inactivity, or have incomplete engagement history.
- Direction for AI agents: Write clear briefs, decision rules, and feedback that agents can follow. Check that their revisions address the original problem.
- Ongoing account management: Prioritize work across accounts and explain the reasoning behind your recommendations.
Experience we’re looking for
You should have personally owned lifecycle or retention strategy for ecommerce brands, preferably at a Klaviyo-focused agency or while managing multiple client accounts.
Your experience should include several of the following:
- Platform migration, account reactivation, sending warm-up, or deliverability recovery.
- Segmentation using purchase history, engagement, consent, exclusions, and time windows.
- Frequency management and decisions about when a subscriber has received enough email to judge their response.
- Account audits that led to specific changes and measurable results.
- Understanding the difference between Klaviyo-attributed revenue and incremental revenue, including the use of control or holdout groups.
- Writing briefs or SOPs, reviewing others’ work, or guiding junior marketers and AI tools.
Agency names, certifications, and cumulative revenue claims are useful context. We will assess the decisions you personally made and the evidence behind them.
How to apply
Please include:
1. Your relevant experience
Name the agencies you worked with, your role and dates, and how many accounts you managed at the same time. Explain which strategic decisions you owned.
2. One account case study
Describe:
- The problem you identified.
- The evidence you used.
- What you changed and why.
- The outcome, including the measurement period and either the starting baseline, list size, or attribution window.
Anonymized examples are welcome. Please distinguish your own work from the team’s work.
3. A short diagnostic response
An account restarts after 13 months without sending. An AI agent recommends sending only to subscribers who engaged within the last 90 days, leaving an audience of 6,000.
What would you check before approving this audience? What additional data would you request, and how would it affect your recommendation?
A few clear paragraphs are enough. We are assessing your reasoning; no account access or unpaid implementation is required.
4. Your availability and rate
State your hourly rate, available hours per week, time zone, earliest start date, and whether existing commitments allow you to provide at least four hours per working day.
We value clear judgment, specific evidence, and the ability to challenge an incorrect recommendation—even when it comes from our own tools.
