About the Role

GRAPHIC DESIGNER & THUMBNAIL DESIGNER — TERMEDCASH

Position: Graphic Designer & Thumbnail Designer
Work Arrangement: Remote
Schedule: Part-Time / Long-Term
Experience: Experienced designer with a strong portfolio required

ABOUT THE CREATOR

I am a full-time content creator building the TermedCash brand across YouTube, Twitch, Kick, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook , ---------- , and other platforms.

My content will include:

  • Gaming
  • Livestreaming
  • DJing
  • IRL content
  • NYC/city exploration
  • Food reviews
  • Camera-based content
  • Personality-driven videos

I am looking for a highly skilled graphic designer who specializes in YouTube thumbnails, vertical content thumbnails, and creator branding.

This is NOT simply a general graphic design position.

The most important ongoing responsibility is creating high-quality, attention-grabbing thumbnails that make people want to click.

You will also initially create a cohesive visual identity for the TermedCash brand across my social platforms.

I am looking for someone who understands the difference between:

"This looks good."

and

"This makes someone want to click."

Those are not always the same thing.

YOUR TWO MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has two primary areas of responsibility:

1. INITIAL BRANDING PACKAGE

Create the visual identity and foundational graphics for the TermedCash brand.

2. ONGOING THUMBNAIL PRODUCTION

Consistently create thumbnails for my livestreams, VODs, long-form videos, and vertical content.

The initial branding work is primarily a one-time setup project.

Thumbnail design is the ongoing responsibility.

PART 1 — INITIAL TERMEDCASH BRANDING PACKAGE

When you are first hired, you will help establish a cohesive visual identity for TermedCash.

The goal is to create a recognizable brand that works across gaming, DJ, IRL, food, NYC, and other future content.

PROFILE PICTURES / AVATARS

Create a professional and recognizable profile-picture system for:

  • YouTube
  • Twitch
  • Kick
  • TikTok
  • Instagram
  • X
  • Facebook
  • ----------
  • Other relevant platforms

The profile image must remain recognizable at very small sizes.

Provide appropriate variations/crops where necessary.

BANNERS & CHANNEL ART

Create platform-specific banners/headers for:

  • YouTube
  • Twitch
  • Kick
  • X
  • Facebook
  • Other relevant platforms as needed

Each platform has different dimensions and safe areas.

You are responsible for creating the appropriate version for each platform and ensuring important elements remain visible on desktop and mobile.

The banners should clearly belong to the same overall TermedCash brand.

BRAND VISUAL SYSTEM

The initial branding package should establish a repeatable visual language.

This may include:

  • Primary color palette
  • Supporting colors
  • Typography/font recommendations
  • Graphic elements
  • Background treatments
  • Shapes/patterns
  • Image treatment
  • Lighting/visual effects
  • Avatar/profile treatment
  • Thumbnail design principles
  • Other useful brand guidelines

The objective is NOT to create a collection of unrelated graphics.

I want a cohesive design system that can be used consistently for years.

PART 2 — ONGOING THUMBNAIL DESIGN

After the initial branding package is completed, the primary ongoing responsibility will be creating thumbnails for new content.

There are FOUR distinct thumbnail categories you will be responsible for.

1. LIVESTREAM THUMBNAILS

I will regularly livestream gaming, DJing, and other content.

You will create thumbnails specifically for the livestream itself.

These thumbnails should:

  • Immediately communicate what the livestream is about
  • Be visually recognizable
  • Match the TermedCash brand
  • Stand out among competing livestreams
  • Work well at small sizes
  • Be appropriate for the specific game/content
  • Not rely on a generic reusable template unless appropriate

The livestream thumbnail should be designed to attract someone who is browsing and d ---------- what to watch right now.

2. EDITED VOD THUMBNAILS

For selected livestreams, I will publish an edited version of the VOD.

You will create a separate thumbnail specifically for the edited VOD.

This is NOT automatically the same thumbnail as the livestream thumbnail.

The VOD thumbnail should reflect the content of the edited video and should be designed as a YouTube video rather than simply an archived livestream.

If the same visual concept makes sense for both, that's fine.

However, do not simply duplicate the livestream thumbnail without considering the purpose of the video.

3. LONG-FORM HIGHLIGHT THUMBNAILS

For each major highlight video, you will create a dedicated YouTube thumbnail.

These videos are designed to attract viewers who may have never watched my livestreams before.

The thumbnail should communicate the most interesting aspect of the video and create curiosity.

You will receive information such as:

  • Video/topic
  • Working or final title
  • Finished video or relevant footage
  • Screenshots/photos
  • Important context

You are expected to use your own creative judgment to develop the strongest concept.

4. VERTICAL CONTENT THUMBNAILS

I will also produce vertical content for:

  • YouTube Shorts
  • TikTok
  • Instagram Reels
  • Other vertical platforms when applicable

You will create vertical-specific thumbnails/cover images when the platform supports or benefits from them.

These should be designed specifically for the 9:16 format.

Do NOT simply take a 16:9 thumbnail and crop it into 9:16.

The composition should be intentionally designed for vertical viewing.

Important elements must remain visible and readable on mobile.

THUMBNAIL QUALITY STANDARD

Every thumbnail should be designed with one primary question in mind:

"Would someone who has never seen my content want to click this?"

A thumbnail should not simply be attractive.

It should communicate an idea, emotion, situation, or curiosity.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD THUMBNAIL

You should have a strong understanding of:

COMPOSITION

Directing the viewer's eye toward the most important element.

VISUAL HIERARCHY

Making it immediately obvious what the viewer should notice first.

CONTRAST

Making important elements stand out.

CURIOSITY

Creating a visual question or unanswered idea.

EMOTION

Using facial expressions, body language, situations, characters, objects, and environments effectively.

SIMPLICITY

Understanding that more elements do not automatically create a better thumbnail.

MOBILE READABILITY

Understanding that thumbnails are frequently viewed at extremely small sizes.

A thumbnail must still communicate its idea when viewed as a tiny image.

TEXT ON THUMBNAILS

Text should NOT automatically be used on every thumbnail.

If text is used:

  • Keep it short
  • Make it extremely readable
  • Make it serve a purpose
  • Make it complement the title
  • Do not simply repeat the title
  • Make sure it works on mobile

You should be equally comfortable creating strong thumbnails with or without text.

TITLE + THUMBNAIL STRATEGY

You must understand that the title and thumbnail work together.

They should generally complement rather than duplicate each other.

The title can communicate one piece of information while the thumbnail communicates another.

Together, they should create enough curiosity to encourage the click while accurately representing the video.

You should be comfortable suggesting improvements when you believe the title and thumbnail aren't working together effectively.

CONTENT VARIETY

TermedCash will not be limited to one type of content.

You should be comfortable designing thumbnails for:

GAMING

  • Minecraft
  • Fortnite
  • Call of Duty
  • Zombies
  • Horror games
  • New releases
  • Challenges
  • Multiplayer
  • Other games

DJ

  • DJ livestreams
  • DJ performances
  • Music-related content

IRL

  • NYC exploration
  • Food reviews
  • Restaurants
  • Events
  • Challenges
  • Lifestyle
  • Travel/exploration
  • Personality-driven content

The visual identity should remain recognizable while allowing the design to adapt to the specific content.

CREATIVE INDEPENDENCE

I do not want to micromanage every thumbnail.

I should be able to provide:

  • Video
  • Topic
  • Title/working title
  • Screenshots/photos
  • Relevant context

And you should be able to develop a strong concept independently.

I want you to be comfortable saying:

"I think this image will work better."

"The thumbnail is too busy."

"We don't need text here."

"The title and thumbnail are saying the same thing."

"This expression communicates the idea better."

"The subject needs to be larger."

That type of creative judgment is highly valued.

DO NOT USE A SINGLE TEMPLATE FOR EVERYTHING

I want a recognizable brand.

I do NOT want every thumbnail to look identical.

Consistency should come from:

  • Brand identity
  • Typography
  • Color treatment
  • Composition principles
  • Visual language

—not from simply changing the screenshot in the same template every time.

Each thumbnail should be designed around the specific content.

SOURCE MATERIAL & PHOTO MANIPULATION

Depending on the project, I may provide:

  • Gameplay screenshots
  • Video frames
  • Camera photographs
  • Personal photographs
  • Logos
  • Game assets
  • Other relevant images

You should be comfortable with:

  • Background removal
  • Image compositing
  • Photo manipulation
  • Retouching
  • Color correction
  • Lighting adjustments
  • Perspective adjustments
  • Image enhancement
  • Creating custom compositions

The final result should look intentional and professionally executed.

FILE & DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS

I primarily use Apple/Mac products.

You do NOT need to use Adobe software specifically.

You may use:

  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • Affinity Photo
  • Affinity Designer
  • Figma
  • Canva Pro
  • Other professional design software

However, your final working files must be provided in a format that is editable and practical for a Mac-based workflow.

Preferred editable/source formats:

  • Figma
  • Affinity Photo/Designer
  • PSD, if created in Photoshop
  • AI, if created in Illustrato
