About the Role

Remote | Long-Term Opportunity**

This role is for someone who specializes in proactive U.S. tax planning and advanced tax strategies. It is not primarily tax preparation, bookkeeping, or basic accounting.

VLARI is seeking an experienced U.S. Tax Strategist who specializes in proactive tax planning and advanced tax strategies for business owners and high-income individuals.

The core responsibility of this role is to research, analyze, develop, and help structure advanced tax-planning strategies based on a client's specific facts and circumstances.

We are looking for someone who understands U.S. tax law beyond preparing a return and can think strategically about how business structure, compensation, deductions, retirement planning, real estate, benefits, investments, and other planning opportunities can work together.

What We Need

We need someone who can take a client situation such as:

  • profitable S corporation owner;
  • multiple LLCs or entities;
  • high-income professional;
  • business owner paying significant federal income taxes;
  • real-estate investor;
  • business owner accumulating substantial cash;
  • owner preparing for retirement or an exit;

and determine:

What tax-planning opportunities should be evaluated?

The right person should be able to go beyond identifying obvious strategies and help us determine:

  • whether a strategy actually applies;
  • the tax law supporting it;
  • eligibility requirements;
  • limitations;
  • documentation requirements;
  • implementation steps;
  • interaction with other strategies;
  • estimated tax impact;
  • risks or areas requiring additional professional review; and
  • how the strategy should be coordinated with the client's CPA, attorney, payroll provider, or other professionals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop proactive U.S. tax-planning strategies for business owners and high-income clients.
  • Analyze client facts to identify potential advanced tax-planning opportunities.
  • Research tax law, regulations, IRS guidance, court decisions, and other authoritative sources when appropriate.
  • Evaluate different planning alternatives and explain why one structure may be more appropriate than another.
  • Develop multi-strategy tax plans rather than relying on isolated recommendations.
  • Help quantify the potential tax impact of proposed strategies.
  • Identify implementation requirements and deadlines.
