About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised, commercially minded and financially capable Business Development and Finance Officer to join our growing property and investment business.

This is a broad, hands-on position combining finance, accounting support, business development, property administration and general business operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with management and will be involved in the day-to-day financial running of the business, while also helping identify and progress new business, property and investment opportunities.

We are looking for someone who is proactive and capable of taking ownership of their responsibilities rather than waiting to be given instructions for every task.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing day-to-day financial administration and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Recording and monitoring income, expenditure, invoices and payments
  • Maintaining financial spreadsheets and internal management records
  • Assisting with bookkeeping and preparing information for accountants
  • Monitoring cash flow, upcoming payments and financial commitments
  • Assisting management with budgets, financial information and reports
  • Supporting mortgage, bridging finance, refinancing and other funding applications
  • Preparing and organising documents required by lenders and finance providers
  • Liaising with mortgage brokers, lenders, banks, accountants and financial professionals
  • Liaising with solicitors, estate agents, valuers and other property professionals
  • Following up outstanding finance, legal and property matters
  • Maintaining organised records for properties, companies, finance facilities and transactions
  • Monitoring important dates, renewals, payments and deadlines
  • Researching potential property acquisitions and investment opportunities
  • Carrying out initial financial assessments of potential opportunities
  • Assisting with the progression of property purchases, refinancing and other transactions
  • Researching potential lenders, finance products and business opportunities
  • Supporting the development of new business projects and income streams
  • Communicating with external companies and professional advisers on behalf of the business
  • Preparing reports, documents, spreadsheets and information for management
  • Helping improve internal systems and administrative processes
  • Supporting general business operations where required

The role will develop as the company grows, so the successful candidate should be comfortable working across different areas of the business.

Qualifications & Experience

We would ideally like candidates to have one or more of the following:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or a related subject
  • AAT qualification or currently studying towards AAT
  • Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or similar professional qualification
  • Previous experience within finance, accounting, banking, mortgages or financial administration
  • Previous experience within property, real estate, mortgages or investment would be advantageous

You do not need to be a fully qualified accountant.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have a good financial understanding and are interested in developing broader commercial and business experience.

Skills Required

The successful candidate should have:

  • Strong numerical ability
  • Good understanding of basic accounting and financial principles
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Good general IT and computer skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Ability to communicate professionally with banks, brokers, accountants, solicitors and other external professionals
  • Ability to manage several tasks and deadlines at the same time
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • A professional and confidential approach when dealing with financial information

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Reliable and organised
  • Ambitious and willing to learn
  • Commercially minded
  • Confident taking responsibility
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment
  • Able to identify problems and suggest solutions
  • Interested in property, finance, investment and business growth
  • Looking for a position where they can develop and take on greater responsibility over time

Why Work With Us?

This is not a narrow finance or administration position.

You will have the opportunity to work directly with decision-makers and gain practical experience across finance, property investment, acquisitions, refinancing and business development.

As the business continues to grow, there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to expand their responsibilities and become increasingly involved in the financial and commercial side of the company.

This position would particularly suit someone who wants real responsibility, broad business exposure and the opportunity to grow alongside the company.
