About CLNR Studios

CLNR Studios is a US-based content production and growth agency creating short-form video for brands, founders, and businesses.
We want to make content that feels imaginative, playful, cinematic, and memorable—not like another scripted advertisement. We’re looking for a creative storyteller who can transform simple ideas into entertaining short-form stories people genuinely want to watch.
The Role

We’re looking for a Creative Scriptwriter who can develop whimsical, emotionally engaging stories for short-form video.

You’ll receive a client brief, message, product, or rough idea and turn it into an original story with characters, personality, visual moments, and a satisfying payoff.

The brand should feel naturally woven into the story rather than forced into a traditional advertisement.

This is not a blog-writing, caption-writing, or generic marketing-copy role. We want someone who thinks in scenes, characters, actions, and images—and understands how written ideas will come to life on camera.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop imaginative concepts from client briefs and rough ideas.
  • Find playful, unexpected ways to communicate a brand’s message.
  • Write short narrative scripts with personality, emotion, humor, or wonder.
  • Create memorable characters, scenarios, and visual worlds.
  • Write natural dialogue, voiceover, action, and performance direction.
  • Build stories with a strong opening, clear progression, and rewarding ending.
  • Use visual storytelling instead of relying entirely on spoken explanations.
  • Create treatments, loglines, character descriptions, and story outlines.
  • Write clear scene descriptions that can be passed to a storyboard artist.
  • Adapt your voice to different brands while preserving originality.
  • Develop alternate concepts, openings, and endings when requested.
  • Collaborate with our creative producer, storyboard artist, and production team.
  • Revise scripts based on creative direction and client feedback.
  • Keep concepts achievable within the project’s budget, locations, talent, and production schedule.

The Kind of Stories We Want
Our scripts may be:

  • Whimsical and imaginative
  • Funny or slightly absurd
  • Heartfelt and human
  • Character-driven
  • Visually surprising
  • Cinematic but concise
  • Inspired by everyday moments
  • Built around metaphors or visual transformations
  • Playful without feeling childish
  • Branded without feeling like traditional advertising

Projects may include short narrative films, sketches, product stories, founder stories, visual comedy, emotional brand pieces, and episodic short-form concepts.
What We’re Looking For

  • Experience writing scripts, short films, sketches, branded stories, animation, or narrative video.
  • A strong understanding of character, story structure, pacing, dialogue, and payoff.
  • The ability to create an engaging story within 15 seconds to three minutes.
  • A vivid imagination and a distinctive creative perspective.
  • Strong visual thinking—you can imagine what the audience will see, not only what they will hear.
  • The ability to make ordinary products or ideas feel interesting and emotionally meaningful.
  • Excellent written English.
  • The ability to write dialogue that feels natural when performed.
  • Comfort receiving feedback and revising creative work.
  • Reliable communication and deadline management.
  • The ability to balance originality with real production limitations.

Helpful Experience

  • Short films
  • Comedy sketches
  • Children’s or family entertainment
  • Animation
  • Branded entertainment
  • Music videos
  • Theater or playwriting
  • Visual storytelling
  • Character development
  • Magical realism
  • Commercial or agency production

Marketing experience is helpful but not required. Strong storytelling instincts are more important.

Typical Deliverables

Depending on the project, you may provide:

  • Two or three concept options
  • Logline and synopsis
  • Creative treatment
  • Character descriptions
  • Story outline
  • Complete short-form script
  • Dialogue or voiceover
  • Visual action and scene direction
  • Performance and tone notes
  • Alternate openings or endings
  • Revisions following feedback
