Full-Stack Developer – Custom CRM & Business Systems
We are a Melbourne-based building products company with our own custom internal business-management system. The system includes CRM, quotations, orders, purchasing and compliance.
Our existing system has been built by our systems lead using AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code. We are looking for a developer who can work closely with him to maintain, complete and expand the system.
This is a long-term position supporting an existing system—not a one-time project or a complete rebuild.
Your responsibilities
- Learn and understand our existing system and code structure
- Complete the remaining CRM modules and improve existing features
- Build call-management and customer-outreach workflows
- Develop new features as the business grows
- Create and update database tables, views, functions and security policies
- Build user-facing screens using plain JavaScript
- Write and perform tests before changes are released
- Create a separate Git branch for each task and submit the work through a pull request
- Work with our systems lead to review and deploy approved changes
- Investigate and fix bugs when problems occur
- Clearly document the features you build and the changes you make
- Protect company and customer data by following proper security and access procedures
How we develop
We use AI tools to help write much of the code. You must be confident directing AI tools, reviewing the code they produce, testing it properly and correcting any mistakes.
AI-assisted development is encouraged, but you must understand and take responsibility for every piece of code you submit. Copying and pasting AI-generated code without checking or understanding it is not acceptable.
We are looking for someone who can use AI to work efficiently while still producing reliable, secure and maintainable code.
Technical requirements
The most important requirement is strong PostgreSQL experience, including:
- Tables and relationships
- Views
- Functions
- Database migrations
- Row-Level Security policies
- Data integrity and security
You will also need:
- Strong JavaScript experience
- Experience working with plain or vanilla JavaScript without a front-end framework
- Git and GitHub experience
- A clear understanding of branches, commits and pull requests
- Experience with Supabase, or the ability to learn it quickly
- Experience maintaining and expanding an existing production system
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Clear written English, as most daily communication will be in writing
- The ability to provide regular updates and meet agreed deadlines
- At least four working hours each day that overlap with Melbourne business hours
At least three years of relevant commercial development experience is preferred.
Experience in the construction or building-products industry is not required. We will teach you how our business operates.
Upcoming development
The first priority is to complete the remaining CRM modules and improve unfinished areas.
Future stages will include:
1. Warehouse management, including inventory, stock locations, receiving and order picking
2. Shipping and container tracking
3. Dashboards and business reporting
4. Accounting integrations
5. Connections with other business tools and services
This is an ongoing system that will continue to grow as the company expands.
To apply, please send us:
- Your CV
- Your GitHub profile or portfolio
- Examples of CRMs, internal systems or business platforms you have worked on
- A clear explanation of which parts you personally developed
- Your experience with PostgreSQL, JavaScript and Supabase
- Your availability and preferred working hours
- Your expected hourly or monthly rate
