GIS Specialist – ArcGIS, QGIS & CARTO

I am looking for a reliable GIS professional to assist me with various geospatial projects on an ongoing basis.

This is not necessarily a full-time position. Some weeks may have several hours of work, while other periods may have little or no work. I am looking for someone I can work with long-term and contact whenever GIS support is needed.

Main Requirements

You should have practical experience with:

• ArcGIS / ArcGIS Pro
• QGIS
• CARTO
• Spatial data management
• Spatial analysis and geoprocessing
• Creating professional maps and map layouts
• Working with shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, CSV and other GIS formats
• Coordinate systems and projections
• Data cleaning and quality control
• Creating and managing web maps

Experience with both desktop GIS and online/web mapping environments is important.

Typical Tasks

Projects may include:

• Preparing and cleaning spatial datasets
• Creating maps and cartographic outputs
• Geocoding and managing location data
• Performing spatial analysis
• Creating interactive maps
• Setting up or modifying CARTO projects
• Working with ArcGIS Online
• Preparing GIS data for dashboards or web applications
• Converting between spatial data formats
• Troubleshooting GIS issues
• Researching and downloading geographic datasets
• Documenting GIS workflows

Nice to Have

The following skills are not required but would be a strong advantage:

• SQL
• PostgreSQL/PostGIS
• Python / ArcPy / PyQGIS
• ArcGIS Online

Work Arrangement

This is a long-term freelance / part-time opportunity.

Work will be assigned depending on current projects. Some projects may require only a few hours, while others may require more substantial involvement.

Good communication and reliability are very important.

Compensation

$3–$5 USD/hour depending on experience and skills.

Higher rates may be considered for candidates with strong CARTO, WebGIS, SQL/PostGIS, Python, or advanced GIS experience.
