About the Role

Coastal Holdings Group, Connecticut Shoreline home services

About the role

We run several home services brands on the Connecticut shoreline: gutters, drainage, roofing, tree work, and exterior painting. Before every estimate, the owner needs property research done: assessor records, aerial imagery, elevation and grading data, soil type, flood zone status, permit history, and ownership information. Right now he's pulling this himself in the field, and it's eating time that should go to actual estimates.

You'll build a one page research brief for each property before he arrives. Not raw data, a short summary of the five things he needs to know before walking the site, with sources noted and facts kept separate from inference.

What you'll do

  • Pull property records: assessor field cards, parcel data, square footage, year built, ownership, permit history
  • Pull geospatial data: aerial imagery, elevation/contour data, slope direction, soil classification, flood zone status, wetland or watercourse proximity
  • Summarize findings into a short brief: the five most important things to know before the visit, with the source noted for each
  • Clearly separate confirmed facts from inference or things that need onsite verification
  • Turn around straightforward jobs (gutters) same day, and more complex jobs (drainage, larger projects) within 24 hours

What we're looking for

  • Comfortable with US property and GIS research, or a fast learner: county assessor sites, Google Earth, NOAA/FEMA flood maps, soil survey tools
  • Strong written English, able to summarize clearly and concisely, not just compile a data dump
  • Careful and honest about uncertainty. If you don't know, say you don't know. We'd rather have "unconfirmed, verify onsite" than a guess presented as fact
  • Comfortable using AI tools to help synthesize research, but able to check and correct AI output rather than pass it through blind
  • CAD, GIS, surveying, or civil engineering background is a strong plus, not required
  • Available during our business hours (Eastern time), since research needs to be ready before morning appointments

Hours and pay

Starting around 20 to 25 hours a week, with room to grow toward full time as the role proves out. Pay based on experience, competitive for the role, paid via Wise.

To apply

Tell us a bit about your research experience, any GIS or mapping tools you've used, and what AI tools you use day to day and for what. If it looks like a good fit, next step is a short paid test on a couple of real properties.
