Virtual Math & ELA Teacher (K-8) — PRC-Licensed, Remote

Thrive Alliance is a U.S. based K to 8 online school. We make one commitment to every family who enrolls, and we put a number on it: one full grade level of improvement in twelve weeks. We are hiring PRC licensed teachers to deliver that outcome, and we are hiring for the long term.

How the teaching works

Teaching is one on one, in sixty minute classes, through Google Meet. Each student meets the same teacher twice a week and stays with that teacher. We do not rotate teachers through students, because a result that cannot be traced to a teacher is not a result we can build on.

Every teacher receives a student's documented grade level gap before the first class: where the student tests, what is missing, and the order to address it in. That comes from MobyMax, the adaptive platform we teach on. It assesses each student continuously and sets the next target from that student's own results. Teachers do not build lessons from scratch, and no prior experience with the platform is required. Training is completed before the first class.

Class time and schedule

Classes run from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM US Central Time, Monday through Thursday. Teachers choose their own hours inside that range. The minimum commitment is four hours a day and the maximum is six. Because the range is exactly six hours, a six hour day means the full range with no gaps. That comes to 16 to 24 teaching hours per week. Fridays and weekends are not scheduled.

Compensation

Pay is $4.00 USD for each hour taught, sent by Wise every two weeks on a fixed date. Four hours a day comes to approximately $277 per month and six hours a day to approximately $416. A bonus of $200 USD is paid when 80 percent or more of a teacher's students gain a full grade level within a twelve week cycle.

What Thrive Alliance provides

Full training on the platform and on our teaching system, completed before the first class. Two weeks shadowing a senior teacher before a teacher takes on students of their own. A named operations manager as a single point of contact, reachable the same day. Every student's gap documented in advance.

Requirements

Active PRC teaching license and LET passer status. At least one year teaching or tutoring K to 8. Spoken and written English strong enough for live one on one teaching with U.S. elementary students. A reliable internet connection and a quiet space suitable for video.

Helpful but not required: prior online tutoring experience, familiarity with U.S. curriculum standards, and experience with an adaptive platform such as MobyMax, IXL, or Khan Academy.
