YouTube Tutorial Video Editor — Fixed-Price Project, 25 Videos (Spreadsheet Template Business)
Confidential employer
Hi, I'm Toni! I run TopSheets, a growing digital product business selling spreadsheet templates (Google Sheets + Excel) on Etsy and my own website. I need a video editor to polish a backlog of around 25 tutorial videos into YouTube-ready content.
This is a fixed-price project, not an ongoing weekly role — I have 25 videos that need the same treatment, and once they're done, the project is complete. Work on your own schedule; there's no weekly task list and no fixed hours. You'll be paid per video as you deliver them.
Every video follows the same format, so once you've done one or two, the rest go quickly — this is repetitive, template-driven work, which is exactly why it's priced and delivered per video rather than by the hour.
What You'll Do
- Polish-edit screen-recording tutorial videos (8–20 min finished). I provide a rough cut with the audio, screen recording, and my talking-head footage already synced and mistakes already removed — your job is to make it YouTube-ready
- Add zoom-ins and highlight callouts on the cells/formulas being discussed as I talk through them
- Light text overlays and pacing polish, matching my existing style (examples provided)
- Clean, simple editing style — NO flashy transitions, NO fast-cut effects. Think calm, clear, helpful — this is educational content, not entertainment
- I handle thumbnails, descriptions, and publishing myself — your job ends at the finished long-form export
Requirements
- Proven video editing experience (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar) — portfolio required
- Comfortable following a consistent style guide closely and repeating a process accurately across many videos
- Strong written English (for reading my notes and any on-screen text)
- Reliable internet and a computer that can edit 1080p video smoothly
- Organized: consistent file naming, uses Google Drive, communicates proactively if something is unclear or delayed
- Bonus (not required): experience editing explainer, tutorial, or software-demo videos
Pay & Process
- Paid test video: I'll hire a small number of candidates to each edit one video at a fixed price of $15. This lets me see your work firsthand before committing the full batch. The candidate whose edit best fits my style gets the remaining videos in the project.
- Full project: $18 per video, paid as each video is delivered and approved, for the remaining ~24 videos.
- Delivery: send me each video as soon as it's done rather than batching them up — I'll review and approve (or request changes) before you move on to the next one.
- Revisions are part of the job. If I send back edit notes on a video, I expect those changes made and the revised video delivered before it's considered complete and paid. This is normal and expected — most videos will need at least one small revision round, especially early in the project while you're learning my style.
- This is a one-time project. If it goes well, there's a good chance of similar batches in the future as I release new templates, but I want to be upfront that it isn't an ongoing weekly commitment.
How to Apply
1. Start your application with the word STORYBOARD so I know you read this posting.
2. Link 3–5 examples of videos you've edited. At least one should be a tutorial, screen-recording, or explainer-style video if you have one. Tell me in one line what YOU did on each (edited only? added graphics? full production?).
3. In 2–3 sentences, tell me: what's one thing that makes a tutorial video easy to follow?
4. Tell me about a time you had to follow someone else's style guide or brand guidelines closely. How did you make sure you got it right?
5. Tell me roughly how many videos per week you could realistically deliver once you're up to speed, so I can plan the project timeline.
Applications that don't follow these steps will not be considered. Thanks, and I'm excited to meet you!
