About the Role

About Us

Nature House is a home-based plant shop based in Tucson, Arizona, selling rare and tropical houseplants, specialty substrates, and plant accessories through our Shopify store ( ---------- ), with local pickup and nationwide shipping. Our brand voice is warm, beginner-friendly, and eco-conscious — "Greenery for Your Home, Calm for Your Soul." I run this business solo and I'm looking for a part-time VA to help me create better content and grow a new Pinterest presence.

I'm not very marketing-savvy myself, so I'm looking for someone who can guide me — suggest what's worth shooting and why, explain what's working, and help me build better habits around content, not just execute a list of instructions I hand you.

What You'll Do
Content direction: Guide me on what to shoot each week — specific, easy-to-follow photo/video ideas based on what's trending or performs well on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook , and Pinterest (e.g., "a 15-second clip unboxing a new plant shipment," "a close-up photo of new substrate texture"). I'm new to marketing, so please explain the "why" behind suggestions in simple terms, not just a list of tasks. This includes helping me promote newer parts of the business, like my plant care services (plant sitting, rehab, repotting), local delivery option, and monthly craft fair appearances.
Editing: Take the raw photos/videos I shoot and edit them into finished posts/reels for each platform
Captions & hashtags: Write engaging, on-brand captions and research relevant hashtags for each post
Pinterest: Set up our Pinterest business account from scratch — boards, pin design, and an ongoing pinning strategy to drive traffic to our website
Website upkeep: Periodically update product listings, descriptions, and photos on our Shopify store, with basic SEO best practices in mind (keywords, alt text, etc.)

What This Role Does NOT Include (for now)
Posting/scheduling content live (I'll handle that)
Responding to comments/DMs (I'll handle that)

A Note on Tone
We're going for authentic and relatable, not polished/corporate. Think "helpful plant friend," not "brand voice." Please don't lean on AI-generated captions or overly generic stock phrasing (e.g., "Elevate your space," "Discover the beauty of...") — we want this to sound like a real person who loves plants, talking to a friend who's just getting into them.

Requirements
Experience editing social media content (reels, short-form video, photo editing) — please share examples/portfolio
Understanding of what performs well on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook , and Pinterest
Comfortable proposing content ideas and explaining your reasoning — I'm new to marketing and want a guide, not just someone who takes instructions
Strong, natural written English for captions — casual and warm, not stiff or generic
Shopify experience a plus, including basic SEO knowledge (or willingness to learn)
Reliable internet, self-motivated, works well async
Hours & Pay
10–12 hours/week, flexible schedule (async — no fixed overlap required)
Pay: $5–7/hour depending on experience (paid monthly), starting with a 2–4 week trial period
Potential to grow into more hours/responsibility as the business grows
To Apply

Please send:

A brief intro
2–3 examples of social content you've edited or directed
Your availability/hours per week

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to edit a short sample clip/photo I provide, followed by a brief video call before starting a 2–4 week paid trial.
