About the Role

Role Purpose
The Finance & Accounting Supervisor is responsible for safeguarding the financial health of the organization by ensuring the accuracy of financial information, strengthening financial controls, managing cash flow and credit risk, supporting business decision-making, and developing a high-performing finance team.

The role exists to provide management with reliable financial information, improve financial performance, protect company assets, reduce financial risk, and ensure compliance with all statutory and company requirements.

This role is responsible for transforming financial data into actionable business insights, improving financial discipline across the organization, and ensuring the Finance Department contributes directly to business growth and operational excellence.

Core Outcomes (Primary KPIs)
The Finance & Accounting Supervisor will be evaluated on their ability to consistently deliver the following outcomes:

1. Financial Accuracy & Integrity
Ensure management can rely on accurate, complete, and timely financial information.
Success Indicators:

  • Financial statements are accurate and submitted within established timelines.
  • General ledger accounts are maintained accurately.
  • Bank reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
  • Financial discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
  • Audit findings and financial errors are are kept within established tolerances.

2. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
Maintain visibility and control over the company's cash position.
Success Indicators:

  • Cash flow forecasts are accurate and current.
  • Cash flow risks are identified and communicated proactively.
  • Liquidity requirements are effectively managed.
  • Working capital performance improves over time.

3. Credit Control & Receivables Management
Improve collections and reduce exposure to bad debt.
Success Indicators:

  • Overdue receivables are kept within established tolerances.
  • Improvement in collection performance.
  • Aging balances remain within acceptable targets.
  • Credit risks are identified and escalated promptly.
  • Collection strategies are implemented effectively.

4. Compliance & Financial Controls
Ensure the company remains compliant with statutory, regulatory, and internal requirements.
Success Indicators:

  • VAT, PAYE, NIS, and other statutory obligations are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Financial controls are maintained and strengthened.
  • Internal control breaches are minimized.
  • Financial records remain audit-ready.

5. Team Performance & Development
Build a capable, accountable, and continuously improving Finance team.
Success Indicators:

  • Team members are coached and developed.
  • Cross-training and knowledge sharing are implemented.
  • Team productivity improves over time.
  • Errors and rework are reduced.
  • Department objectives are consistently achieved.

6. Process Improvement & Quality Management
Continuously improve financial processes, controls, and systems.
Success Indicators:

  • Finance procedures are documented and maintained.
  • Process inefficiencies are identified and improved.
  • Corrective actions are completed effectively.
  • Departmental compliance with QMS requirements is maintained.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare, review, and oversee the preparation of accurate financial reports.
  • Ensure the integrity of financial records and accounting transactions.
  • Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide management with meaningful financial insights and recommendations.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Monitor profitability, expenses, and overall financial performance.

Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor cash balances and projected cash requirements.
  • Assist management in maintaining healthy cash flow.
  • Identify potential cash flow risks and recommend corrective action.
  • Support management in financial planning and resource allocation.

Credit Control & Accounts Receivable Management

  • Oversee accounts receivable and collections activities.
  • Monitor customer credit exposure and aging balances.
  • Develop and implement collection strategies.
  • Support management in reviewing customer credit facilities.
  • Escalate significant collection concerns and financial risks.
  • Monitor and improve receivables performance metrics.

Accounts Payable & Financial Administration

  • Oversee accounts payable processes.
  • Ensure supplier obligations are managed appropriately.
  • Verify financial transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure financial records remain complete and organized.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and supporting documentation.

Payroll Support

  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Verify payroll information and related financial entries.
  • Ensure payroll-related statutory obligations are accurately processed.

Financial Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain strong internal financial controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Support external audits and internal reviews.
  • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Finance Department.
  • Set clear expectations and accountability standards.
  • Conduct regular coaching and development discussions.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for team members.
  • Build a culture of accuracy, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular departmental meetings and performance reviews.
  • Support succession planning and capability development within the department.

Quality Management System (QMS) Responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned QMS documentation and records.
  • Ensure Finance Department procedures remain current and effective.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Monitor corrective and preventive actions related to Finance/QMS activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support continual improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
  • Promote compliance with established quality standards and procedures.

Performance Expectations
The Finance & Accounting Supervisor is measured on outcomes, not activity.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, ACCA, CPA, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in Accounting or Finance.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting principles.
  • Working knowledge of Guyana tax, NIS, VAT, and statutory requirements.
  • Experience with accounting software and financial reporting systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
