About the Role

About the role
We are hiring a Junior SQA Analyst to help test and improve our ERP system. The analyst will work closely with the developer and business process owners to confirm that system functions are correct, secure, understandable, and ready for daily business use.
This is primarily a manual testing position. It is suitable for someone beginning a career in software quality assurance who is careful, organized, curious, and comfortable documenting problems clearly.
The initial focus will be on Jobs, Proposals, Job Costing, Inventory, Products, Procurement, Customers, Vendors, Employees, Scheduling, Invoicing, Payments, Reports, and Settings.
Main responsibilities

  • Review requirements and understand how each business process is expected to work.
  • Prepare clear manual test cases and checklists.
  • Test normal user workflows from beginning to end.
  • Test incorrect inputs, missing information, duplicate actions, and unauthorized access.
  • Verify user roles and permissions.
  • Confirm that information remains accurate across connected modules.
  • Report defects with clear steps, expected results, actual results, severity, and supporting evidence.
  • Retest corrected defects and record whether they were successfully resolved.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure changes do not break previously working functions.
  • Create and clean up controlled test records.
  • Keep the QA tracker, defect register, evidence references, and daily progress records current.
  • Participate in short discussions with the developer and process owners.
  • Raise unclear requirements and business-process questions before marking a test complete.
  • Protect passwords, customer information, financial data, and other sensitive records.
  • Provide a simple daily or weekly testing summary.

Typical testing process
For each module, the SQA Analyst will:
1. Meet with the process owner and developer to understand the actual workflow.
2. Review the agreed scope and expected results.
3. Prepare the test cases.
4. Execute the tests and retain appropriate evidence.
5. Report defects and discuss their business impact.
6. Retest completed corrections.
7. Run regression checks on connected functions.
8. Prepare a short module-quality summary.
9. Recommend whether the module is ready, conditionally ready, or not ready.
Required qualifications

  • Basic understanding of software testing or strong interest in learning SQA.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow a process consistently.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to describe a problem in a way another person can reproduce.
  • Comfortable working with web applications, forms, tables, and business records.
  • Basic ability to use Word, Excel or similar office applications.
  • Willingness to learn ERP business processes.
  • Responsible handling of confidential information.
  • Able to work independently and ask questions when requirements are unclear.

Preferred but not required

  • Internship, coursework, or project experience in software testing.
  • Familiarity with test cases, defect reports, regression testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Experience testing a web-based business system.
  • Basic understanding of APIs, databases, SQL, browser developer tools, or Git.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Trello, Azure DevOps, Postman, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of accounting, inventory, purchasing, job costing, or ERP processes.
