Structural Engineer – Aluminium Balustrades & Louvres

We are an Australian aluminium balustrade, louvre and architectural metalwork contractor seeking a capable structural engineer based in the Philippines for ongoing freelance, project-based work.
The successful applicant will personally prepare structural calculations, software analyses and draft engineering reports for:
- Aluminium balustrades and handrails
- Louvres, battens and architectural screens
- Posts, rails and supporting frames
- Brackets, plates, screws, bolts and welds
- Post-installed anchors and supporting substrates
- Maximum-span, cantilever and load tables
IMPORTANT
Only qualified engineers who can independently perform structural calculations and competently use structural-analysis or finite-element software should apply.
This is not a drafting, estimating or administrative position. You must be able to personally create and check structural models, determine loads and restraints, perform calculations, interpret results and explain your engineering methodology.
Calculations will be reviewed and certified by an Australian structural engineer where required.
REQUIRED CAPABILITIES
- Degree in civil or structural engineering
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics and load paths
- Experience with aluminium, steel or lightweight structures
- Ability to perform ULS and SLS calculations
- Member strength, deflection and local-buckling checks
- Connection, bracket, screw, bolt, weld and anchor calculations
- Ability to independently verify software results
- Professional written English and calculation-report preparation
Applicants must be proficient in relevant software such as SpaceGass, Strand7, RFEM, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, Autodesk Robot, ANSYS, IDEA StatiCa, Mathcad, Excel or equivalent.
Australian Standards experience is preferred but not essential. Capable engineers experienced with other recognised international codes may apply. We will identify the applicable standards and arrange appropriate reference access.
Relevant standards may include AS/NZS 1170, AS/NZS 1664, AS 1288, AS 5216, AS 3600 and AS 4100.

- Editable Word calculation report and final PDF
- Clearly stated assumptions, loads and load combinations
- Member, connection, anchor and substrate calculations
- Original editable calculation files
- Original structural-analysis or FEA model files
- Clear pass/fail summary and design recommendations
- Response to comments from the Australian reviewing engineer
Software screenshots or final results without supporting calculations and engineering interpretation will not be accepted.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
This is ongoing freelance work. A fixed fee and delivery timeframe will be agreed upon before each calculation package begins.
Shortlisted applicants will complete a brief unpaid technical assessment based on a previously completed example. It will not relate to a live project or be used for construction or commercial purposes.
