Academic Content & Quality Specialist
Remote | 35 to 40 hours per week | USD $6 to $7 per hour to start
We're an Australian tutoring company preparing students for competitive entrance and scholarship exams. We're looking for someone who cares whether a question is actually right, whether an explanation actually teaches, and whether a Year 4 student would actually understand it.
This is a behind-the-scenes role. You'll spend most of your time reviewing and improving existing materials (worksheets, trial tests, lesson content, answer explanations) and some of it creating new ones. You'll work across English, writing, maths and thinking skills, with science a bonus.
We use AI tools for drafting and first-pass review. You'll use them too, but you own the final product: catching what the tools miss, checking difficulty is pitched right for the year level, and making sure everything is accurate and aligned to what students are being assessed on.
What you'll do
- Review worksheets, tests and lesson content for accuracy, clarity and appropriate difficulty
- Fix errors, ambiguities and weak explanations, and flag gaps
- Draft new questions and materials to brief
- Check materials match learning objectives and exam formats
- Work with the academic team to keep quality standards consistent across programs
What we're looking for
- Strong academic background with real confidence in English and maths (science a plus)
- Precise written English and the ability to explain a concept simply without dumbing it down
- Attention to detail: you notice the wrong answer key, the ambiguous stem, the question that's two levels too hard
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Experience tutoring, marking, teaching or editing academic content is welcome but not required
- Familiarity with Australian selective-school and scholarship exams is a genuine advantage
Hours and pay
- Fully remote
- 35 to 40 hours per week, 11am to 7pm AEST, Tuesday to Saturday
- USD $6 to $7 per hour to start, with clear room for growth. Performance reviews happen on an ongoing basis rather than a fixed schedule, and rate increases follow from them.
Before you apply
Shortlisted candidates complete a short live academic test, around 10 to 20 minutes, covering the kind of questions you'd be reviewing. Please only apply if you're comfortable with this.
