Summary
We are looking for a confident and motivated Business Development and Appointment Setting Executive to generate new sales opportunities within the UK market.
The successful candidate will research suitable businesses, identify the correct decision makers, make outbound calls, qualify potential clients and book appointments or online demonstrations for our sales team.
This is a performance focused role. The successful candidate will receive a basic salary or hourly rate together with commission or bonuses based on qualified appointments, attended demonstrations and successful sales.
Main Responsibilities
- Research UK businesses that match our target customer profile.
- Build accurate prospect lists containing the company name, website, location, industry, decision maker’s name, job title, telephone number and email address.
- Verify contact information before adding it to our database or CRM.
- Make outbound calls to business owners and decision makers.
- Introduce our services clearly, confidently and professionally.
- Ask appropriate questions to understand the prospect’s current situation, requirements and challenges.
- Qualify prospects according to the criteria provided by the company.
- Book qualified appointments and online demonstrations for the sales team.
- Send appointment confirmations and reminders to help reduce missed appointments.
- Follow up with prospects who have shown an interest but are not yet ready to book.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of calls, conversations, follow ups and appointments in the CRM.
- Provide daily and weekly performance reports.
- Work towards agreed targets for calls, conversations, qualified opportunities, attended appointments and completed sales.
Performance Based Pay
The compensation package will include:
- A basic salary or hourly rate.
- A bonus for each qualified appointment that attends the scheduled meeting.
- Additional commission for appointments that result in a completed sale.
- Higher commission or performance bonuses for consistently exceeding monthly targets.
Commission will normally be based on attended and properly qualified appointments rather than appointments that are cancelled, missed or incorrectly qualified.
The exact salary, commission structure and targets will be agreed before employment begins.
What Counts as a Qualified Appointment
A qualified appointment must meet the following conditions:
- The prospect is a genuine business owner or relevant decision maker.
- The business matches our agreed target customer profile.
- The prospect has been informed about the purpose of the appointment.
- The prospect has expressed a genuine interest in discussing our services.
- The prospect has agreed to a specific date and time.
- The correct telephone number and email address have been confirmed.
Appointments booked with individuals who are not interested, do not have decision making authority or do not understand the purpose of the meeting will not be considered qualified.
Required Experience and Skills
- Previous experience in business to business cold calling, telesales, lead generation, appointment setting or business development.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- A clear, confident and professional telephone manner suitable for speaking with UK businesses.
- Strong listening, questioning and objection handling skills.
- Experience finding reliable business and decision maker contact information.
- Familiarity with Google Maps, LinkedIn, company websites and reputable business directories.
- Experience using prospecting platforms such as Apollo, Lusha, Hunter or similar services is desirable.
- Experience using Zoho CRM, HubSpot, GoHighLevel or another customer relationship management system is desirable.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and achieve agreed performance targets.
- A reliable internet connection, computer and professional quality headset.
Performance Measures
Performance will be reviewed based on:
- Accurate and verified business records added.
- Outbound calls completed.
- Meaningful conversations with decision makers.
- Qualified sales opportunities generated.
- Qualified appointments booked.
- Appointments attended by prospects.
- Sales generated from booked appointments.
- Accuracy of CRM records and follow up activities.
UK Data and Calling Compliance
The successful candidate must follow the company’s data protection and marketing procedures, including applicable UK GDPR, Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, Telephone Preference Service and Corporate Telephone Preference Service requirements.
Business information must be collected and used responsibly. Misleading introductions, aggressive calling practices and unauthorised bulk contact methods will not be accepted.
Working Arrangements
- Remote position.
- Working hours must cover normal UK business hours.
- Initial training, service information, qualification criteria and approved calling scripts will be provided.
- Performance will be reviewed during an initial probationary period.
- Continued employment will depend on call quality, appointment quality, attendance rates and overall results.
