About ACS Electrical

ACS Electrical is an Australian electrical services business based in Perth, Western Australia.

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer / Electrical Estimator to support our team on a part-time, casual contractor basis.

This is a remote position suited to someone who understands electrical drawings, estimating, take-offs, project requirements and Australian electrical industry standards.

The workload will vary depending on current tenders, quoting requirements and active projects.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities may include:

Reviewing electrical drawings, plans, specifications and tender documents
Preparing detailed electrical quantity take-offs
Preparing labour and material estimates for electrical projects
Developing accurate project cost estimates and quotations
Reviewing project scope and identifying inclusions, exclusions and potential variations
Calculating labour hours and installation requirements
Preparing material schedules and Bills of Quantities where required
Reviewing supplier and subcontractor pricing
Assisting with tender submissions and pricing documentation
Identifying potential risks, missing information or discrepancies within drawings and specifications
Supporting the team with electrical engineering calculations when required
Reviewing electrical designs for practical installation and constructability
Assisting with project costing and estimating for commercial and residential electrical works
Helping improve estimating templates, processes and cost databases
Coordinating remotely with the ACS Electrical team regarding quotes, projects and technical requirements
What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator, Electrical Engineer or similar role
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
Experience completing electrical quantity take-offs
Good understanding of electrical materials, equipment and installation methods
Strong numerical and analytical skills
High attention to detail when preparing estimates
Ability to identify missing information and clarify project scope before pricing
Good written and spoken English
Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines
Reliable internet connection and availability for online communication with our team
Australian Electrical Experience

Experience working with Australian electrical projects is highly preferred.

Candidates with knowledge of the following will be viewed favourably:

Australian electrical standards and regulations
AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules
Australian construction drawings and documentation
Commercial electrical estimating
Residential electrical estimating
Electrical tendering
Labour rates and productivity calculations
Perth or Western Australian construction and electrical projects
Estimating Software

Experience with electrical estimating or take-off software is highly regarded.

Working Arrangement

This is not a full-time position.

We are looking for someone who can work with ACS Electrical on an ongoing part-time / casual contractor basis.

Hours may vary depending on:

Tender volumes
Quotation requirements
Current projects
Estimating workload
Engineering requirements

There may be opportunities for additional hours as the workload increases.

Rate

Rate is to be discussed.

Compensation will depend on:

Previous estimating experience
Electrical engineering experience
Australian industry experience
Technical capability
Software experience
Speed and accuracy of estimating work
