Overnight Operations Manager - Trucking

About us: Squadron Trucking LLC is an Amazon Freight Partner running about 120 drivers out of Southern California, handling overnight long-haul routes. We're hiring two people to split coverage of our overnight operations desk — you'll alternate weeks with your counterpart, working either 2 or 3 twelve-hour shifts depending on the week.

Schedule: Independent contractor, paid hourly. You'll alternate week-to-week with a co-worker: one week you work 2 shifts (24 hours), the next week 3 shifts (36 hours). All shifts cover our US overnight window — you'll need to confirm you're comfortable with the exact clock-time commitment before applying, since this is real overnight coverage, not a flexible or asynchronous role.

What you'll actually be doing:

Responding to drowsy-driving alerts — calling the driver, reviewing camera footage, and notifying Amazon, all within minutes
Immediately notifying management the moment an a ---------- happens — no waiting to gather full details first
D ---------- who covers a last-minute driver callout, factoring in legally required rest periods
D ---------- when to reject a route vs. wait, to minimize the impact on our performance scorecard
Handling on-time and maintenance disputes, written warnings, and termination paperwork
Reviewing driver footage for coaching opportunities, and recognizing drivers who are doing well

Who we're looking for: This role is NOT a good fit for someone who needs frequent check-ins or approval before acting. We need someone who can make a sound decision independently, catch problems before they're pointed out, and communicate clearly and fast under pressure. Prior experience in dispatch, logistics, BPO team lead, or operations management is a strong plus. Strong written and spoken English is required.

Pay: $9–10/hour USD, paid via Wise or Payoneer, twice monthly. We also pay an annual bonus equivalent to a 13th-month payment as a show of good faith, even though it isn't legally required for a contractor role.
