About the Role

In-House Counsel

I am a Canadian surgeon seeking a full-time lawyer to join my medicolegal team as in-house counsel.

Qualifications
-Strong background in medical negligence, administrative law, tribunals, appeals, and judicial review.
-Solid civil litigation experience, with the ability to manage all phases of litigation—from discovery through trial.
-Familiarity with Canadian law (or other common law systems) is a significant asset.

Responsibilities
-Drafting and reviewing legal documents.
-Coordinating with local counsel to control costs and improve turnaround times.
-Maintaining organized, cloud-based legal files.
-Providing clear, well-reasoned written and oral communication in English.

-Ability to handle multiple projects at once.

Work Structure
-This is ideally a full-time position — our team values commitment and focus.
-Current legal team: one full-time lawyer, two paralegals; several collaborating outside counsel
-Hiring process typically begins with a 2 week paid assignment, followed by a 3-month paid onboarding period for successful candidates.

Workday starts at 8:00 a.m. your local time (6:00 p.m. GMT-6). Most communication will be by email , with occasional coordination calls scheduled at 8:00 a.m. your time.

Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience and productivity.
