E-Commerce Product Research Assistant – Amazon & Etsy
I run an established e-commerce business selling T-shirt designs primarily through Amazon, and I’m looking for a research assistant to help find and validate new product ideas.
This role is simple to understand, but doing it well requires strong attention to detail, good judgment, clear communication, and the ability to learn quickly.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Researching T-shirt ideas, trends, phrases, niches, and humor styles on Etsy
Finding promising concepts and validating demand on Amazon
Finding comparable Amazon listings
Checking competition and how old comparable listings are
Using a duplicate/variant checker to make sure we are not researching ideas we already have
Performing basic trademark/copyright checks using the process I provide
Entering research accurately into Google Sheets
Finding new keywords and research angles instead of only working from a fixed list
I will provide detailed written training, video training, examples, and the tools needed to do the job.
What I’m looking for
You should have:
Strong written English
Good communication skills
Strong attention to detail
The ability to learn quickly
Good web research skills
Basic Google Sheets experience
The ability to follow detailed instructions
The confidence to ask questions when something is unclear
Reliable communication and availability
You do not need to already be an Amazon expert.
I would rather hire someone who is smart, curious, communicative, and easy to train than someone with years of VA experience who rushes through work or does not pay attention.
Long-term opportunity
I am looking for someone who wants to grow into this role over time.
At the beginning, your main responsibility will be product research. If you perform well, I want to gradually give you more responsibility, more hours, and potentially additional parts of the business to manage.
There is room to grow with the business for the right person.
Paid training
Training is paid.
Before starting regular research, you will:
Read the full training document
Watch the training videos
Take detailed notes showing that you understood the material
Complete a small paid research test
Receive feedback before moving into regular work
I care more about whether you truly understand the process than how quickly you finish the training.
Please do not apply if:
You regularly disappear or take a long time to respond
You struggle to communicate clearly in English
You guess when you are confused instead of asking questions
You rush through work and miss details
You are looking for a job where you can do the minimum required
You are not interested in learning or taking on more responsibility over time
How to apply
At the very beginning of your application, write:
I READ THE FULL POST
Then answer these questions:
Tell me a little about yourself.
What previous experience do you have with research, e-commerce, Amazon, Etsy, or Google Sheets?
How would you rate your English?
How many hours per week are you currently available?
Tell me about something you had to learn quickly for a previous job and how you learned it.
Why are you interested in a long-term role instead of short-term freelance work?
Applications that do not include “I READ THE FULL POST” at the beginning will not be considered.
