Video Editor & Content Creative Director
Confidential employer
We are looking for a creative, self-motivated video editor who understands social media, especially the fitness/bodybuilding niche, and can take raw footage and independently turn it into engaging content.
We are looking for someone with a strong creative mindset and understanding of what performs well on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
I will primarily provide you with the raw footage, and I expect you to be able to look through the clips, identify the best moments, and create compelling content from them with minimal direction.
Primary Responsibilities
Short-Form Content
- Edit approximately 3 Instagram Reels/TikToks per week
- Take raw fitness, bodybuilding, lifestyle, coaching, and personal-development footage and turn it into engaging short-form content
- Select the best clips and moments independently
- Create strong hooks, pacing, transitions, captions, text overlays, zooms, sound effects, music, and other elements when appropriate
- Understand current social-media editing styles and what keeps viewers watching
- Make creative decisions without needing step-by-step instructions
- Understand the difference between content that is simply "edited" and content that is actually engaging and designed for social media**
Long-Form YouTube Content
- Edit YouTube vlogs, fitness videos, bodybuilding content, coaching content, and other long-form videos
- Organize large amounts of raw footage and create a cohesive, entertaining final video
- Know how to remove unnecessary footage while maintaining the story and keeping the viewer engaged
- Add appropriate music, B-roll, text, transitions, graphics, and other elements when needed
Instagram Stories & Coaching Content
- Create high-engagement Instagram Story templates to promote my online coaching business
- Use Canva and/or other design software to create professional, attention-grabbing templates
- Create templates for coaching promotions, client transformations, testimonials, calls-to-action, educational content, announcements, and other marketing purposes
- Have a strong understanding of visual marketing and how to make Instagram Stories encourage people to stop, read, and take action
- Be able to take a basic idea and turn it into an attractive, professional-looking design without needing extensive instructions
What I'm Looking For
The most important quality I'm looking for is CREATIVITY.
I don't want someone who needs to be told exactly where every clip goes, what text to add, what transition to use, or how the video should flow.
I want someone who can receive a folder of raw footage and think:
"I can turn this into something good."
You should have:
- Strong video editing skills
- A creative eye and strong sense of storytelling
- A strong understanding of Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube
- Experience editing fitness/bodybuilding content or a genuine understanding of the niche
- An understanding of social-media trends and audience retention
- The ability to work independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Good judgment when selecting footage, music, text, pacing, and effects
- Basic-to-advanced Canva/design skills
- The ability to consistently meet deadlines
- The ability to take initiative and bring your own ideas to the content
Ideal Candidate
The ideal person will be someone who doesn't just ask:
"What do you want me to do with these clips?"
Instead, they look at the footage and say:
"Here's what I think we should make."
You should be comfortable making creative decisions and bringing your own ideas to the table. I want an editor who can become familiar with my brand, my personality, my audience, and the fitness niche and eventually understand what type of content fits my brand without needing constant direction.
This will be an ongoing position for the right person, with the potential for additional work as the brand and content output continue to grow.
