Accountant/Bookkeeper — Fiscal Monitoring Support

Overview
A healthcare company needs an experienced accountant to support an active County of Orange fiscal monitoring review. This starts as a defined project with the possibility of ongoing work if it's a good fit.

Phase 1 Scope (Immediate)

Compile detailed general ledger and trial balance for two sample months (Jan and Mar 2025), reconciled to costs claimed
Organize payroll documentation: salary/wage rates, payroll registers, fringe benefit support, signed timesheets, time allocation reports
Organize operating expense documentation: invoices, canceled checks, purchase authorizations, contractor agreements
Assist completing a fiscal monitoring questionnaire covering internal controls, cash management, and records retention
Help prepare/organize FY2025 financial statements for audit review

Phase 2 (Potential, Ongoing)

General bookkeeping and reconciliation support across multiple related entities
Monthly close support, expense categorization, and reporting

Requirements

Proficient in QuickBooks Online
Comfortable with payroll reconciliation and supporting documentation review
Strong English communication, available for overlap with US Pacific and Eastern Time for calls
Detail-oriented, comfortable with audit-style documentation requests

Engagement
Project-based, fixed scope for Phase 1. Rate/timeline to be discussed based on experience. Potential to extend into ongoing part-time work.
