Senior Local SEO Lead - UK Trades & Home Services
Confidential employer
Local Launchpad helps UK local service businesses; landscapers, roofers, electricians, plumbers, cleaners and similar trades, dominate Google through high-converting websites, SEO and Google Business Profile optimisation.
We launched in June, already have paying clients, and are building this to scale toward hundreds.
Everything runs on systems. We have our own AI copy system that generates website copy, meta titles and descriptions, schema and GBP content for every client, with content pushed directly into WordPress. Sites can go live in days, not weeks. At least that is the aim, we are not quite there just yet.
We're now looking for someone to own SEO across the entire business. Not a task-doer. Not someone waiting for an SEO checklist.
We want the person who d ---------- what good looks like, builds the methodology behind it, and makes sure every website and GBP we ship is technically and strategically right from the ground up.
Feel free to take a look at our landing page to get a better understanding of Local Launchpad: ----------

YOUR FIRST JOB: TELL US WHAT WE'RE GETTING WRONG
We already run a documented SEO methodology — H1 formulas, page architecture rules, mandatory on-page signals, GBP category handling. It works well enough to get clients ranking. But it was largely inherited and has never been stress-tested by someone who genuinely knows their stuff.
Your first task is to audit it honestly and tell us what's right, what's outdated, and what's actively costing our clients rankings. We'd rather hear it now than in six months.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Site architecture and keyword strategy
Keyword research, search-intent analysis, competitor and SERP research, keyword-to-page mapping, URL structure and internal linking. D ---------- how homepage, service, category, location and service × location pages should be structured and targeted and what copy belongs to each page, where, how long it should be and what it needs to say — and critically, d ---------- which pages shouldn't exist at all. We don't want to create hundreds of pages just because we can. You need to know when a page has genuine value and how to build scalable local architectures without producing thin or duplicate content.
On-page and copy frameworks
Working directly with our WordPress designer to define what every page type needs before it's built, so SEO is designed into the templates rather than bolted on later. You won't hand-write hundreds of pages — our copy bot handles generation at scale and can be tailored to your suggestions. What you will own is the framework behind it: section mapping, keyword targeting, heading structure, copy briefs, local relevance, entity coverage, FAQs, alt text, anchor text, and quality control on what comes out the other end.
Technical SEO
Crawling and indexing, Search Console, sitemaps, robots.txt, canonicals, redirects, duplicate content, index/noindex decisions, Core Web Vitals, schema, breadcrumbs, crawl depth. You don't need to be the developer, you need to identify issues, explain the fix, and work with our developer to get it implemented correctly.
Existing website migrations
Many clients arrive with an existing site. You'll audit it before anything is replaced and d ---------- which URLs have real value (rankings, traffic, backlinks), which must be preserved, which get consolidated or removed, and how to sequence the switch. We will not wipe out years of a client's SEO value because a migration was done carelessly.
Google Business Profile and local
This is central to the offer. Setup and optimisation, category selection, services, service areas, photo strategy, review generation and response, NAP consistency, GBP-to-website alignment, Local Pack and Maps rankings, citations, competitor analysis, and resolving GBP issues when they arise. UK knowledge is a real advantage — some categories carry protected-title or accreditation traps. We use or plan to use tools like LeadSnap and are open to whatever you'd recommend.
Off-page and authority
Citations, local and niche-relevant links, competitor backlink analysis, partnerships and outreach where it makes sense. We are not interested in buying hundreds of low-quality links a month. We want a repeatable, commercially sensible authority strategy.
Measurement
Search Console, Analytics, GBP data, rank tracking, Ahrefs or Semrush, Screaming Frog. What's improving, what's declining, what's sitting just outside the top positions, and what's actually generating leads. We don't care about vanity metrics — we care about qualified calls for our clients. We also need to be able to show our clients on a monthly/quarterly basis the results we have generated for them, this task will sit with you.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Real, demonstrable local SEO experience, ideally with trades and home services — landscapers, roofers, plumbers, electricians, HVAC, cleaning, pest control, drainage and or similar. UK experience is a advantage, but we're open to exceptional candidates anywhere.
- Strong technically, strong on-page, and genuinely hands-on with Google Business Profile — not theoretical.
- Comfortable with WordPress and able to work directly with a designer/developer, setting requirements they implement.
- Able to work at our speed. Sites go live within days of onboarding, so if your process needs three weeks of research per client, this won't be a fit.
- The confidence to tell us we're wrong. We've had people give us confident answers that turned out to be incorrect, and it cost us real time and money. Push back.
- Proactive communication. Daily or near-daily updates, a weekly call, and a heads-up when something slips before it slips — not after.
- Excellent written English. You'll be working directly with me.
Interested in building systems, not just completing tasks.
- Most importantly: think like an owner of the result. If something isn't ranking, we don't want "I completed all my SEO tasks." We want "why isn't it ranking, and what are we doing about it?" This is crucial!

THE OPPORTUNITY
This isn't a freelance gig where we send you random tasks. The right person becomes the SEO Lead behind Local Launchpad.
You'll start by working closely with me and our designer to audit and rebuild our delivery model. From there, the goal is a repeatable SEO system deployable across hundreds of businesses — architecture standards, keyword processes, page mapping, content frameworks, technical checklists, GBP and review systems, migration procedures, QA and reporting.
As we grow, there's scope to lead SEO team members beneath you rather than executing every repetitive task yourself. For the right person this becomes a significant long-term role, with genuine profit share as we scale.
$1000 for the set up of our SEO system with an ongoing monthly retainer and profit share agreed once the set up project has been completed!
A paid test task before either side commits may be required.

HOW TO APPLY
Start your reply with "RANKINGS" so I know you've read the whole post, and open with 2–3 specific results you've achieved for local service businesses — the situation, what you did, and what actually changed. This comes first, before anything else. Applications without it won't be considered.
Then:
1- Your local SEO background — how long, what markets, what types of business
2- Your GBP experience, including tools you use for posting, reviews or rank tracking
3- A client serves 10 locations and offers 8 services. How would you structure that site, and how would you avoid thin or duplicate content? (Be specific — this is the question that matters most to us.)
4- A client comes to us with an existing 20-page site that ranks reasonably well. Walk me through your migration process.
5- Your availability and hours per week
Looking forward to finding the right person and building something great together.
