About the Role
We are a growing U.S.-based accounting firm looking for an experienced Philippine Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our team full-time.
This is not a hand-holding position. We are looking for someone who can step into the role as a leader, take ownership, make sound accounting decisions, and take charge of improving how the accounting function operates.
The right candidate must completely understand accrual accounting, be able to identify problems without waiting for detailed instructions, and proactively implement systems, procedures, and workflows that improve accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities
-Perform and review accounting work for U.S.-based clients
-Take ownership of monthly accounting and financial reporting
-Prepare and review Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss statements, and Cash Flow Statements
-Manage accruals, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and adjusting entries
-Identify accounting issues and resolve them proactively
-Review books for accuracy and proper accounting treatment
-Take charge of month-end close procedures
-Develop and implement accounting systems, SOPs, controls, and workflows
-Identify inefficiencies and implement better processes
-Standardize accounting procedures across clients where appropriate
-Improve internal workflows to increase accuracy and efficiency
-Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting issues and recommendations
-Explain the value of accounting procedures, controls, and reporting processes to clients
-Make recommendations instead of waiting for step-by-step instructions
-Take ownership of projects from beginning to completion
-Provide leadership and guidance when accounting decisions need to be made
Qualifications
-Active Philippine CPA license is REQUIRED and will be verified
-Must have a complete and practical understanding of accrual accounting
-Strong understanding of U.S. bookkeeping and accounting principles
-Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online
-Strong knowledge of month-end close and adjusting entries
-Ability to analyze financial statements and identify issues independently
-Experience implementing accounting systems, processes, SOPs, and internal controls
-Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
-Comfortable taking initiative and working without constant supervision
-Strong client communication skills
-Able to explain complex accounting matters in simple, understandable terms
-Experience working with U.S.-based clients is highly preferred
-Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
