Translator / Localization Specialist – Freelance / Remote

JOB OVERVIEW

Peak Media World is looking for reliable and detail-oriented Translator / Localization Specialists to support us in expanding our digital content into additional international markets.

We are not looking for someone who simply translates word for word. We are looking for someone who understands localization: adapting content so that it feels natural, clear, culturally appropriate, and professionally written for the target audience.

About the Role

Our content is currently produced primarily in German and English.

We are currently building our localization network for two additional language markets:

• Spanish
• Portuguese

We are particularly interested in native speakers who have a strong command of written language and can ensure that localized content feels genuinely natural to the target audience.

The role will initially focus on translating and localizing existing and newly created content, including digital guides, books, articles, website content, product descriptions, and other digital materials.

Our content portfolio will continue to grow, so this can develop into an ongoing collaboration.

What You Will Do

• Translate and localize German and/or English content into your native language
• Adapt wording, expressions, tone, and examples to the target market where appropriate
• Ensure that translated content sounds natural rather than machine-translated
• Review and correct AI-assisted translations
• Check grammar, spelling, terminology, consistency, and readability
• Maintain consistent terminology across larger projects
• Identify cultural or linguistic issues that should be adapted rather than translated literally
• Follow provided style guides, terminology lists, and formatting requirements
• Perform quality checks before content is published
• Communicate clearly when something in the source content is unclear or requires a decision

AI-Assisted Workflow

We use AI wherever it can make our processes faster and more efficient.

This means you may receive AI-assisted translations or drafts as a starting point.

Your role is not to compete with AI on word-for-word translation, but to provide the human expertise that AI cannot reliably provide:

accuracy · natural language · cultural understanding · consistency · quality control

You should therefore be comfortable working with AI tools and reviewing AI-generated content critically.

What We Are Looking For

You should have:

• Native-level command of Spanish or Portuguese
• Very good English and/or German
• Excellent written language skills
• A strong feeling for language, tone, and context
• Excellent attention to detail
• A structured and reliable working style
• Experience with translation, localization, content editing, proofreading, or similar work
• The ability to follow detailed instructions and style guidelines
• Good communication skills
• The ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines

Experience with digital products, publishing, e-commerce, websites, SEO content, or online content is an advantage.

Important

You do not need to speak both languages.
