Medical Virtual Assistant – Surgery Scheduling & Insurance Verification

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Medical Virtual Assistant (VA) with experience in surgery scheduling and insurance verification to support our ambulatory surgery center (ASC) operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule patients for upcoming surgeries and procedures at the ASC.
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
Verify whether prior authorization is required for scheduled procedures.
Obtain and track insurance authorizations and authorization status.
Contact insurance companies, physician offices, and surgery centers as needed.
Review CPT codes, diagnosis codes, payer requirements, and procedure information.
Document insurance verification and authorization details accurately in the appropriate system.
Follow up on pending, denied, or missing authorizations.
Communicate updates with the surgery scheduling, insurance verification, and clinical teams.
Ensure cases are properly prepared before the date of surgery.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.

Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Medical VA, Insurance Verification Specialist, Surgery Scheduler.
Experience working with US healthcare/medical insurance.
Knowledge of insurance eligibility, benefits, copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and prior authorization.
Experience with ASC/surgical scheduling is highly preferred.
Familiarity with CPT codes and different commercial and government insurance plans.
Excellent English communication and documentation skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
Comfortable making calls to insurance companies and physician offices.
Must be dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
