About the Role

HeartWired Marketing is looking for a talented, dependable Web Designer / Developer to join our growing marketing agency.

We work with small and mid-sized businesses to build websites and digital marketing systems that don't just look good, but actually help businesses grow. We're looking for someone who understands that great web design is equal parts design, functionality, user experience, and business strategy.

This is a hands-on role for someone comfortable taking a project from concept through launch and supporting clients after the site goes live.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and build professional, responsive WordPress websites
  • Work extensively with WordPress and Divi
  • Translate layouts, brand guidelines, and client ideas into polished websites
  • Build and modify page layouts, headers, footers, forms, landing pages, and other site components
  • Handle website updates, maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality assurance
  • Optimize websites for mobile responsiveness, usability, performance, and conversions
  • Integrate forms, CRM systems, email platforms, analytics, tracking tools, and third-party applications
  • Work with WooCommerce and other WordPress plugins as projects require
  • Implement basic on-page SEO best practices
  • Test websites across devices and browsers before launch
  • Communicate clearly about project status, questions, problems, and deadlines
  • Manage multiple client projects and priorities without needing constant supervision

What We're Looking For

Required experience:

  • Strong WordPress experience
  • Strong web design and layout skills
  • Experience with Divi or similar visual page builders
  • Solid understanding of responsive/mobile-first design
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Ability to troubleshoot WordPress and plugin issues
  • Good understanding of UX/UI principles
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow brand standards while still bringing creativity to a project
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple projects
  • Clear written communication
  • Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently

Big Plus Skills

We're especially interested in candidates who bring additional digital marketing experience, including:

  • Project management and coordinating website projects from kickoff through launch
  • Email marketing and email design, including responsive email templates, newsletters, and campaigns
  • Lead generation and conversion-focused landing pages
  • CRM integrations and marketing automation
  • GoHighLevel experience
  • Gravity Forms
  • WooCommerce
  • LearnDash
  • Google Analytics / GA4
  • Google Tag Manager
  • Search Console
  • Basic technical and on-page SEO
  • Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools

You don't need to check every box. We'd rather find someone talented, resourceful, dependable, and willing to learn than someone with a giant list of software on their résumé.

The Person We're Looking For

We're not looking for someone who simply waits for a list of instructions.

We want someone who can look at a website and say, "This could be better, and here's how I'd improve it."

You should be comfortable solving problems, asking smart questions, catching things before a client does, and taking ownership of your work.

We're a small agency, which means you'll have an opportunity to work across different industries and projects rather than doing the same thing every day.

As you grow into the role, there is potential to take on greater responsibility in project management, client projects, email marketing, lead-generation campaigns, and other areas of the agency.

To Apply

Please send:

  • A short introduction about yourself
  • Your résumé or work history
  • A portfolio with 3–5 websites you personally worked on
  • A brief explanation of what you did on each project
  • Your experience with WordPress and Divi
  • Any experience with project management, email marketing, lead generation, CRM systems, or marketing automation
  • Your availability
  • Your desired hourly or monthly rate

Important: Please tell us which parts of the websites in your portfolio you personally designed or developed. We're interested in your actual work, not simply projects your company or team participated in.

One Last Thing

Include the words "Stay Weird" somewhere in your application so we know you actually read the entire job description.

We care about good work, good communication, accountability, and people who genuinely give a damn about what they create.

If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.
