About the Role

Senior SEO, Local SEO & AI Search Specialist

Remote | Philippines | Long-Term Position

We are a growing U.S.-based digital marketing agency looking for an experienced SEO specialist who can take ownership of SEO fulfillment for our clients.

This is not an entry-level SEO VA position.

We are looking for someone who understands SEO at a high level and can help us build a repeatable system that produces measurable results for local businesses.

Our primary clients are local service businesses in the United States.

The goal is simple:

Help our clients get found more often, generate more website traffic, receive more phone calls and leads, and increase their visibility across Google Search, Google Maps, and AI-powered search platforms.

What We Need You to Understand

You should have strong experience with:

Traditional SEO
Local SEO
Google Business Profile optimization
Google Maps / Local Pack rankings
On-page SEO
Technical SEO
Keyword research
Competitor research
Content strategy
Internal linking
Local landing pages
Location and service-area pages
Schema markup
Citation building and citation cleanup
Backlink analysis and link-building strategy
Google Search Console
Google Analytics 4
SEO audits
Conversion-focused SEO
Search intent
E-E-A-T principles
Website architecture
Core Web Vitals and website performance
Local keyword rank tracking

You should also understand the rapidly changing world of AI Search / Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).

We want someone who understands how businesses can improve their chances of appearing or being referenced within platforms and experiences such as:

Google AI Overviews
ChatGPT
Gemini
Perplexity
Claude
Bing / Copilot
Other AI-powered search engines

This includes understanding topics such as entity authority, structured data, topical authority, citations, trusted third-party mentions, content structure, brand signals, reviews, and creating content that search engines and AI systems can easily understand.

What You Will Be Responsible For

You will help manage SEO fulfillment across multiple client accounts.

Your responsibilities may include:

SEO Strategy

Review each client's website, competitors, rankings, Google Business Profile, Search Console data, keywords, backlinks, and local market.

Determine:

What is preventing the client from ranking
Which keywords represent the greatest opportunities
Which pages need to be created
Which pages need to be improved
What technical problems need to be fixed
What competitors are doing better
What needs to happen over the next 30, 60, and 90 days

We do not want someone waiting for us to tell them every SEO task to complete.

We want someone capable of helping determine what the tasks should be.

On-Page SEO

Optimize:

Title tags
Meta descriptions
H1/H2/H3 structure
Page copy
Keyword placement
Search intent
Internal linking
Image optimization
Alt text
URL structure
Schema
Calls-to-action
Service pages
City/location pages

Pages should be optimized for rankings without sacrificing readability or conversions.

Local SEO

Develop strategies to increase client visibility within their target markets.

This includes:

Google Business Profile optimization
Local keyword research
Local competitor analysis
Google Maps optimization
Citation management
NAP consistency
Review strategies
Local backlinks
Service-area optimization
City/location landing pages
Local schema
Local authority building
Content Strategy

Help determine what content should be created based on actual SEO opportunities.

We don't want articles written simply because we need to publish another blog.

Content should have a purpose.

Examples include:

Building topical authority
Supporting service pages
Capturing long-tail searches
Answering customer questions
Supporting internal linking
Improving local relevance
Increasing visibility in AI search
Building authority around our clients' services
Technical SEO

Identify and help resolve problems including:

Indexing problems
Crawlability
Broken links
404 errors
Redirects
Duplicate content
Canonical issues
Sitemap problems
Robots.txt issues
Page speed
Core Web Vitals
Mobile usability
Schema errors
Website architecture
Reporting & Performance

SEO work must connect to business results.

We care about:

Organic clicks
Organic impressions
Keyword movement
Local Map Pack rankings
Google Business Profile visibility
Website traffic
Phone calls
Form submissions
Leads
Conversion rates
New ranking keywords
Top 3 / Top 10 rankings
Overall local search visibility

Rankings are important, but rankings without leads or customers aren't enough.

Tools

Experience with several of the following is preferred:

Google Search Console
Google Analytics 4
Google Business Profile
Google Tag Manager
Ahrefs
SEMrush
Ubersuggest
Screaming Frog
BrightLocal
Local Falcon
PageSpeed Insights
Google Keyword Planner
WordPress
GoHighLevel
Duda
Schema / structured-data tools
AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity

You do not need to know every tool listed.

Understanding SEO strategy is more important than knowing how to click buttons inside an SEO platform.

What We Do NOT Want

We are not looking for someone who:

Buys thousands of spam backlinks
Uses outdated SEO tactics
Keyword-stuffs webpages
Publishes hundreds of low-quality AI articles
Creates reports without taking action
Completes tasks without understanding why they are being done
Needs detailed instructions for every SEO decision
Guarantees #1 Google rankings
Focuses only on rankings while ignoring conversions
Uses the exact same SEO strategy for every client
Who We're Looking For

The ideal person is analytical, curious, organized, and slightly obsessed with figuring out why one business ranks above another.

You should be comfortable looking at a website you've never seen before and investigating:

Why aren't they ranking?

Then developing and executing a strategy to change that.

We actually want someone who may know more about SEO than we do.

We don't need another person to simply follow an SEO checklist.

We want someone who can eventually become a trusted SEO expert within our agency.

Experience

Ideally, you have:

3+ years of hands-on SEO experience
Experience ranking local businesses in the United States
Experience managing multiple SEO accounts
Case studies or examples of ranking improvements
Experience with Google Business Profiles
Strong written English
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Agency experience is highly preferred.

When Applying

Please answer the following questions.

1. Tell us about one local business you helped rank.

What was the industry?

What market were they targeting?

What was the problem when you started?

What exactly did you change?

What happened to rankings, traffic, calls, or leads?

2. A plumber is ranking #14 in Google Maps for "plumber Asheville NC." Walk us through what you would investigate first.

3. What are the three most important factors you currently look at when trying to improve Google Maps rankings?

4. How would you determine whether a website needs more content, better existing content, backlinks, or technical improvements?

5. What is your current understanding of optimizing businesses for Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity?

6. What SEO tools do you currently use?

7. Please provide examples, screenshots, case studies, or websites where you personally performed the SEO work.

Do not send generic SEO reports.

We want to understand what you personally did and why you did it.

The Opportunity

We are looking for someone interested in working with us long term.

As our client base grows, this position has the opportunity to grow into a larger SEO fulfillment / SEO leadership role within the agency.

If you understand SEO beyond completing tasks and enjoy figuring out how to make businesses dominate their local markets, we'd like to hear from you.
