In-House Bookkeeper / Accountant (EU DE·CH·MT) | Remote | $1000–$2500/mo

Growing European fragrance / e-commerce brand with entities in Switzerland, Germany, and Malta.

ROLE
Own day-to-day bookkeeping IN-HOUSE to European standards (German / Swiss / Maltese). Our Corporate Service Providers (CSP) in CH, DE, and MT handle statutory filings and year-end statements. You keep clean books so they can file without chaos.

PAY
USD $1,000–$2,500 / month (typical $1,500–$2,000; up to $2,500 for strong ownership)
Full-time remote · long-term · start ASAP

CORE WORK

• Book all incoming payments (mainly PayPal and Stripe via our payment company / PSPs)
• Book outgoing: vendor invoices, contractor invoices, retainers, ads, logistics, software
• Match bank/PSP settlements to invoices and orders; reconcile weekly
• Maintain suppliers, contract payment calendar, AP/AR aging
• Multi-entity awareness (CH / DE / MT) — correct entity, currency (EUR/CHF/USD), VAT/MwSt flags where applicable
• Keep documentation audit-ready for CSPs (exports, folders, naming)
• Monthly close pack per entity (P&L, BS, cash, open items) — CSP does filings/year-end
• Flag anomalies, missing invoices, duplicates, FX issues

MUST-HAVE

• Proven bookkeeping / accounting (not only data-entry VA)
• European bookkeeping norms — DE and/or CH and/or MT (say which)
• PayPal + Stripe (or similar) reconciliation end-to-end
• Strong Excel/Sheets + a modern ledger (Xero / DATEV / Bexio / QuickBooks / Lexoffice / Sage — name yours)
• Fluent written English; German reading a strong plus
• High trust / discretion (payment dashboard access)

NICE-TO-HAVE

• German B1+
• Multi-company / multi-currency groups
• Ecommerce / DTC accounting
• Handing packs to external tax advisors / CSPs
• Swiss QR-bill, German DATEV export, Malta VAT basics

NOT THIS ROLE

• Replacing the CSP / tax advisor (they keep filings & year-end)
• Pure payroll-only or pure AR-only
