About the Role

Position Summary

The Senior Bookkeeper manages full-cycle bookkeeping services for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. This role also involves maintaining client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients across various industries.
  • Record and reconcile financial transactions, including bank, credit card, loan, and intercompany accounts, and prepare GST/HST returns as required.
  • Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures.
  • Assist with year-end files, including preparing supporting working papers for financial statements and tax returns.
  • Communicate professionally with clients regarding account status, discrepancies, and reporting needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of client financial information.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping preferably within a public accounting or professional accounting practice.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Sage 50, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite, along with tax preparation software (e.g., CanTax, ProFile, TaxCycle).
  • Familiarity with preparing year-end working papers and supporting accountants during tax season.
  • Canadian bookkeeping and tax experience is an asset.
