Remote Video Editor — Vertical Short-Form Content

About the Role

Aonic is looking for a remote video editor to support our social media content, primarily fast-turnaround vertical short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. This is an editing-focused role: you'll take raw footage and briefs from our creative producer and turn them into polished, scroll-stopping social content on quick timelines.

Responsibilities

• Edit vertical short-form videos (9:16) from raw footage: talking-head, event coverage, skits, and athlete content etc.
• Deliver fast-turnaround cuts without sacrificing quality
• Add captions, pacing, sound design, and light color/audio cleanup
• Cut multiple hook/variation options from a single piece of footage when needed
• Quickly turn around revisions based on feedback/notes
• At times, act as an assistant editor: process raw footage, identify the best moments/selects, and hand off an organized timeline to the Creative Producer for final editing
• Work from creative briefs and incorporate revision notes efficiently
• Communicate proactively on progress, timelines, and any blockers

Requirements

• Proven experience editing short-form vertical video for social platforms (portfolio/reel required)
• Strong sensitivity to social media editing conventions: hooks, music/sound effect choices, and cutting rhythm/pacing
• Proficiency in editing software, DaVinci Resolve or Premiere preferred
• Comfortable with fast turnarounds and juggling multiple cuts in flight
• Strong organizational skills for project files, raw footage, and final handoffs, with consistent communication to keep the Creative Producer updated on status and timelines.
• Excellent communication skills: responsive, clear about status/timelines, comfortable giving and receiving feedback async
• Reliable internet and own editing setup (computer/hard drive)

• Experience editing videos that have gone viral or performed well on social media
• Comfortable using and familiar with AI tools
• Experience editing for wellness, fitness, or nutrition brands
• Motion graphics / Fusion / VFX experience
