SEO Blog Content Writer & Content Strategist – Webflow + Canva
Confidential employer
We are looking for a creative, SEO-focused blog writer and content strategist who can take ownership of our ongoing website content.
This role is not simply about being handed a topic and writing an article. We need someone who understands how to research keywords, identify topics worth ranking for, build a long-term content plan, write engaging and useful articles, create supporting graphics, and publish finished content directly to our website.
The ideal person is both creative and analytical. You should be able to look at our business, services, target customers, and competitors and develop a roadmap of blog topics designed to increase organic traffic and generate leads.
What You'll Be Responsible For
SEO Keyword & Topic Research
- Research keywords relevant to our services, customers, and geographic markets.
- Identify search terms with realistic ranking opportunities.
- Understand search intent and determine what someone is actually looking for when searching a keyword.
- Find long-tail keyword opportunities and supporting topics.
- Research competitor websites and identify content gaps.
- Determine which topics should be prioritized based on traffic potential, competition, and business value.
Content Strategy & Blog Mapping
You should be comfortable creating an organized content roadmap rather than writing random individual blog posts.
This includes:
- Creating monthly and quarterly blog topic plans.
- Building topic clusters around our primary services.
- Identifying pillar articles and supporting articles.
- Mapping related articles together for internal linking.
- Avoiding keyword cannibalization between articles.
- Developing location-specific content when appropriate.
- Planning evergreen content as well as seasonal or timely content.
- Recommending updates to older articles when opportunities exist.
We want someone who can essentially say:
"Here are the keywords we should target, here are the articles we should create around them, and here is the order we should publish them."
Blog Writing
You will be responsible for writing polished, engaging articles that are both optimized for search engines and enjoyable for real people to read.
Articles should include:
- Strong SEO-friendly titles.
- Clear introductions that quickly answer the reader's question.
- Logical H1, H2, and H3 structure.
- Natural keyword placement.
- Related keywords and supporting topics.
- Internal links to relevant website pages and blog posts.
- Appropriate external references when necessary.
- Calls to action that naturally lead readers toward our services.
- Meta titles and meta descriptions.
- Suggested URL slugs.
- Image alt text.
- FAQ sections when appropriate.
Content should never feel robotic, repetitive, overly keyword-stuffed, or written simply to satisfy an SEO checklist.
Creative Writing Ability
We want someone capable of understanding the personality of a business and writing content that sounds natural, knowledgeable, professional, and approachable.
You should be able to:
- Take technical or boring subjects and make them interesting.
- Develop strong hooks and introductions.
- Tell stories when appropriate.
- Explain complicated subjects simply.
- Match an existing company's voice and writing style.
- Understand the difference between educational content and promotional content.
- Write content designed to build trust rather than constantly selling.
- Come up with creative angles for subjects that competitors may already be covering.
Webflow Experience
You should have experience working with Webflow CMS or be comfortable learning and working directly inside a structured CMS.
Responsibilities may include:
- Creating new blog posts inside Webflow.
- Formatting headings, paragraphs, lists, links, and images.
- Selecting categories and tags.
- Adding SEO titles and meta descriptions.
- Creating clean URL slugs.
- Adding featured images.
- Adding image alt descriptions.
- Previewing articles before publishing.
- Checking desktop and mobile formatting.
- Connecting internal links throughout the website.
- Scheduling or publishing completed articles.
You should be comfortable working independently inside an established website without a ---------- changing unrelated website elements.
Canva & Basic Graphic Design
Blog posts will also require supporting imagery.
You should have experience using Canva or similar design software to create professional-looking blog graphics.
This may include:
- Combining multiple photos into one graphic.
- Creating featured blog images.
- Cropping and resizing photographs.
- Adding text overlays when appropriate.
- Removing or replacing backgrounds.
- Creating simple comparison graphics.
- Creating informational graphics.
- Maintaining consistent fonts, branding, spacing, and visual style.
- Exporting properly optimized images for web use.
You do not need to be a professional graphic designer, but you should have a good visual eye and understand what makes something look polished and professional.
