About the Role

Before anything else: if you're replying to this with something AI wrote for you, don't bother, I can tell and I'll just skip the application. If you're a real editor who actually wants this, start your message with a link to one testimonial or talking-head style video you think can convert as a paid-ad, and one sentence on why. That's the only test before we talk properly, and it also tells me if you actually know what makes this kind of video good. If you have no experience, but is willing to learn, we'll be offering training so you can LEVEL UP. We believe in hiring people who are quick to learn through constructive feedback, andbuild skills that they can use FOREVER.

I run DTM Media, a small video agency in Melbourne. We make short-form content for a couple of retainer clients, mostly testimonial and talking-head videos, the kind that live or die on the first three seconds and can't afford a boring middle. Right now we're overloaded with edits, and want frequent variations to creatives to reduce fatigue! We also do more creative edits, and if you are capable and have a style of editing we like - we'll be down to get you onboard aswell :)

This is a full-time role - I want someone constantly on the ball! However, I am very flexible - if you can get the work done I am happy to pay by edit/project and organise other flexible hourly/per project basis. I will still pay during the training phase!

What the job actually is: cutting testimonial and talking-head videos to batches of potential videos that can be created for paid ads - ensuring there is clear pacing, captions, hook, and CTA. There's also some general admin and other small production tasks that come up, this isn't a role where you only ever touch one thing.

You'll get a proper written/visual guide and training directly from the team before you start covering exactly what "good" looks like for our videos, so you're not guessing. There's also a short paid test project first, real but small, so you can show me what you've got and I can see if this is a fit before either of us commits further. We'll have two styles - one focused around talking head, and another that is more creative (like real estate).

Straight talk on commitment: I'm hiring for the next couple of months to start. If it's working, and I think it will if you're genuinely good at this, there's a real path to staying long-term. I'd rather build with one person over time than keep restarting every few months. And even if it doesn't become permanent, real agency client work is a solid thing to have on your record for whatever's next.

What I need: solid DaVinci Resolve skills (color, basic audio, captions, exports). Real experience editing short-form vertical content, TikTok, Reels, testimonials, not just long-form. You can follow a brief exactly instead of doing your own thing with it. You're actually online and reliable during work hours, not just "available when convenient." Good enough written English that a brief lands the first time.

Reply with the video link and your one sentence like I said above, then tell me about your editing background and the hours you're actually free.
