About the Role

Video Editor / Short Form Content (Full Time)

Type: Full time
Salary: $600/month retainer
Hours: Flexible, built around output rather than a clock. We need overlap with MST Colorado USA or feedback and handoffs.

I need someone who turns raw footage into content that actually gets watched. Long form recordings, talking head clips, screen recordings, phone footage, whatever I send you. You cut it, caption it, and make it ready to post.

Most of the work is short form. Reels, TikToks, Shorts, ad creative. Some weeks it will be five clips. Some weeks it will be twenty. You need to be able to move fast without the quality dropping off. Taking long form youtueb videos and clipping. adding captions, getting ready for ads.

Speed and efficienty and effective is the GOAL

This is not a job where I send you a storyboard. I send you a raw file and a rough idea, and you come back with something I can post.

What you will actually be doing

  • Cutting long form recordings into short clips that stand on their own
  • Captions, hooks, pacing, b roll, sound design, light motion graphics
  • Ad creative for Meta. Multiple versions of the same concept for testing
  • Thumbnails and cover frames
  • Keeping files organized so nothing gets lost or re-edited twice
  • Occasionally shooting simple screen recordings or assembling from stock

Tools

Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci, Final Cut, whatever you are fastest in. I care about the output, not the software. After Effects is a plus. OPUS CLAUDE

YOU NEED TO BE USING AI OR YOU WILL BE LET GO IMMEDIATELY

You should also be comfortable with the AI tools that speed editing up. Auto captioning, transcription, clip finding, upscaling, voice cleanup. If you are still cutting captions by hand, you are too slow for this.

AI is non-negotiable

This is the most important part of the posting, so read it twice.

Editing today does not look like editing five years ago. Auto captions, AI cut detection, transcript based editing, AI upscaling, voice cleanup, AI b-roll and stock search, even rough assembly, all of it should be part of how you work. We use tools like Claude and Opus for scripting, planning, and content decisions, so being comfortable working alongside AI tools day to day matters, not just inside your editing software. If you are still doing everything by hand the slow way, you will not keep up with the pace we need.

Because AI is doing a lot of the heavy lifting now, I expect real output. Not fewer hours for the same result, more finished content in less time. That is the trade. You use the tools, you move faster, and the volume reflects it.

Tell me exactly which AI tools you use and what each one does for you in your process. If your answer is vague or you skip this part, I will assume you are not actually using AI and this is not a fit.

Who this works for

  • You have a real eye for pacing and hooks, not just technical editing skill
  • You watch short form content enough to know what is working right now
  • You hit deadlines without being chased
  • You take feedback without getting precious about the work
  • You can hold a consistent style across dozens of pieces

Who this does not work for

  • You need every cut spelled out for you
  • You are slow but "thorough"
  • You disappear for two days when you hit a problem
  • You only do one style and cannot adapt

How to apply

Do not send a generic application. I will skip it.

Send me:

1. Three examples of short form work you edited. Links, not descriptions.
2. One long form video you cut down, plus the clips that came out of it if you have them.
3. What you edit in, and roughly how long a 60 second clip takes you start to finish using your current AI-assisted workflow.
4. Which AI tools you use at each stage of editing (captions, cutting, cleanup, etc.) and what each one does for you.
5. Your realistic weekly output using that workflow. How many finished short clips can you turn around per week at a quality you are proud of.
6. Start your message with the word ORANGE so I know you read this all the way through.

If you also shoot, write hooks, or handle posting and scheduling, mention it. It changes what this role can grow into.
