About the Role

ABOUT THE ROLE
Starbond is looking for a full-time Shopify Developer to own the development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of our Shopify storefront.

This is a Shopify-specialist role. General web-development experience alone does not qualify. We are looking for someone who has already built, modified, debugged, and maintained real Shopify stores and can show us exactly what they personally contributed.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Develop, maintain, and improve Starbond’s Shopify storefront.
Customize Shopify themes, sections, templates, landing pages, product pages, and storefront components.
Write clean, maintainable Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Diagnose and resolve Shopify bugs, broken functionality, layout issues, and integration conflicts.
Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Shopify apps and approved integrations.
Translate Figma/design files into responsive, functional Shopify pages.
Test changes before release and check for downstream issues across devices and browsers.
Maintain safe theme/version-control practices and appropriate rollback paths.
Improve site speed, stability, usability, and technical performance.
Keep assigned tasks, blockers, status, and technical documentation current.
Own work through full completion rather than waiting for repeated follow-up.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Substantial professional Shopify development experience required; 4+ years strongly preferred. Equivalent depth may be considered when demonstrated through complex live-store work and technical assessment.
Strong hands-on proficiency with Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Proven experience customizing and maintaining Shopify themes.
Experience with Shopify apps and integrations.
Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills.
Experience building responsive Shopify storefront experiences.
Ability to implement approved designs from Figma.
Understanding of safe theme/version management and release practices.
Portfolio with verifiable Shopify examples required.

HOW YOU WORK MATTERS
Technical ability is only part of the role. We also need someone who:
Follows through without repeated reminders.
Communicates blockers and risks early.
Tests work before handing it off.
Solves the full problem instead of only the easiest visible part.
Keeps tasks and progress visible.
Takes ownership of mistakes and corrections.
Finishes and closes work reliably.

General web-development experience without substantial hands-on Shopify development experience will not meet the requirement for this role.

ENGAGEMENT DETAILS
Full-time, long-term Independent Contractor engagement.
Expected workload: 40 hours per week.
Target rate: $7-$10 USD per hour, based on demonstrated Shopify capability and experience.
Must be available for scheduled Pacific Time alignment and agreed working-hour overlap.
Long-term opportunity for the right person.
Department: Marketing.
Reports directly to Joseph Hyun, CEO.

HOW TO APPLY
Please submit your resume/CV and portfolio. Your application should include:

Links to 2-3 live Shopify stores you personally worked on.
For each store, tell us exactly what you personally built, changed, fixed, or optimized.
Describe one technically difficult Shopify issue you diagnosed. What was the root cause, what did you change, and how did you verify the fix?
Give one concrete example of Shopify work where you personally used Liquid and JavaScript.
Tell us about a time a web-development task was at risk of missing its deadline. What did you do before the deadline was missed?
Confirm your availability for full-time work and Pacific Time alignment.

We hire based on evidence of Shopify capability, judgment, ownership, and execution, not titles alone.
