Short-Form Video Editor & Social Media Content Assistant
Confidential employer
I’m looking for a creative, reliable video editor to help me turn raw video footage into engaging short-form content for multiple social media accounts and platforms.
I create content in more than one niche, including travel/lifestyle content and quilting/fabric content. I am comfortable filming and talking on camera, but I need someone who is good at looking through raw footage, identifying the story or interesting moments, and turning those pieces into polished content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
This is more than simply cutting clips together. I’m looking for someone who understands short-form storytelling, hooks, pacing, captions, music, B-roll, and what makes people continue watching.
Some videos will come with very specific instructions. Other times, I may send you a collection of footage along with a voice note or short explanation of what I was doing, and I’d like you to be able to suggest or create several pieces of content from it.
For example, I may send footage from a trip and want you to identify several possible videos: a travel experience/story, things I learned, a hotel or destination review, a funny observation, or useful tips. On the quilting side, footage might include new fabric arrivals, products, behind-the-scenes clips, demonstrations, or me talking about a particular collection.
Responsibilities include:
- Edit short-form vertical videos from raw footage
- Find strong hooks and remove unnecessary footage
- Add captions/on-screen text, B-roll, music and simple graphics when appropriate
- Create multiple pieces of content from longer filming sessions when possible
- Format/adapt videos for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube Shorts
- Help identify good content within the footage I provide
- Organize edited content so it is ready for consistent/daily posting
- Follow the different style and audience of each account
- Communicate clearly and meet agreed-upon deadlines
I would especially like someone who can eventually learn my voice and editing preferences so that I can film the content, provide context, and trust you to help turn it into finished posts without needing detailed instructions for every video.
You do NOT need experience with quilting. You do need to be curious enough to learn what matters to the audience and understand that the different accounts will have different styles.
I value creativity and judgment more than flashy editing. The goal is content that feels natural, personable and interesting — not overly produced or generic.
Ideal Candidate
You may be a great fit if you:
- Have experience editing TikTok/Reels/Shorts
- Understand hooks, retention and short-form storytelling
- Have a good sense of pacing and what should be cut
- Can work independently instead of needing frame-by-frame instructions
- Are comfortable receiving raw footage and figuring out how to use it
- Have excellent written English for captions and on-screen text
- Are organized and dependable
- Are interested in a long-term position and growing with the accounts
Experience with travel, lifestyle, UGC, creator or e-commerce content is a plus.
How to Apply
Please send:
1. A short introduction about yourself and your experience.
2. Links to 3–5 short-form videos you personally edited.
3. Tell me which parts of those videos you were responsible for.
4. Tell me what editing software you use.
5. Tell me approximately how many short-form videos you can realistically edit per week.
6. Tell me your hourly rate or preferred monthly rate.
7. Start your application with the word SUNSHINE so I know you read the entire job post.
I may ask shortlisted applicants to complete a small paid editing test using the same raw footage so I can compare editing style, storytelling and creative judgment.
