Transportation Tracker – Local Operations

AJG Transport is expanding its operations team and is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented professional to support our local transportation operations while providing additional OTR support as needed. We are looking for a Transportation Tracker – Local Operations who can monitor day to day driver activity, coordinate local tasks, maintain accurate load visibility, and help ensure local drivers remain productive throughout their shifts. This is a hybrid operations role, as local execution may vary from day to day and additional OTR tracking or operational support may be assigned when local activity is limited.

Role Overview
You will help coordinate the daily movement and activities of our local drivers. Your primary focus is to ensure drivers are continuously moving, scheduled tasks are completed efficiently, operational issues are communicated to the appropriate teams, and all required documentation is completed before drivers leave pickup or delivery locations. You will work closely with U.S. Operations Leads to coordinate local executions, prioritize assignments, and handle ad-hoc operational needs throughout the shift. Because local volume may fluctuate, you should also be comfortable supporting OTR tracking and other transportation operations tasks when there are no immediate local executions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Monitor local drivers throughout the shift, coordinate assignments, and keep drivers moving efficiently based on availability, location, HOS, equipment, and operational priorities.
• Track driver locations, load progress, ETAs, pickups, deliveries, and other milestones while keeping TMS, Google Sheets, and tracking platforms accurate and up to date.
• Work closely with U.S. Operations Leads to coordinate local executions, ad-hoc tasks, and operational issues involving trucks, trailers, equipment, loads, or service concerns.
• Ensure required paperwork, receiver signatures, status updates, and timestamps are completed, and proactively follow up or escalate delays, missing information, or time-sensitive issues.
• Support OTR tracking when local activity is limited and maintain organized documentation and complete shift handoffs for pending drivers, loads, and operational issues.

What Success Looks Like

• Local drivers stay productive, receive clear next assignments, and avoid unnecessary downtime.
• Daily local tasks are scheduled, prioritized, and completed efficiently.
• Truck, trailer, paperwork, and service issues are identified early and communicated to the appropriate team.
• Load data, tracking platforms, and delivery paperwork remain accurate, complete, and up to date.
• OTR support and shift handoffs are handled effectively when local activity is limited.

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience in logistics, trucking, dispatch, transportation tracking, or fleet operations preferred
• Understanding of local fleet coordination, dispatch operations, load tracking, and Hours of Service
• Familiarity with U.S. geography and U.S. trucking operations is a plus
• Able to coordinate several drivers and operational tasks simultaneously without losing accuracy
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize assignments based on operational needs
• Proactive in keeping drivers moving rather than waiting for issues or assignments to be brought up
• Understands the importance of obtaining complete and properly signed transportation documentation
• Communicates clearly and professionally through Zoom, verbal communication, chat, and email
• Minimum 45 WPM typing speed
• Strong attention to detail and sound judgment when operational issues arise
• Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-moving transportation environment
• Flexible and willing to support both local and OTR operations depending on daily workload
• Follows SOPs and instructions consistently
• Works collaboratively with the team and is receptive to feedback and coaching

• Available shift: Tuesday - Sunday 7 AM - 5 PM CDT
• Zoom presence (with camera open and unmuted audio) required
• Time tracking software used for accountability and performance support
• Shifts may adjust based on operational demand
