Social Media Video Editor

I run a wedding entertainment business in Melbourne (DJ + live saxophone). I've got a growing backlog of raw footage from past gigs, including weddings, performances, and crowd and dancefloor moments, that needs to be sorted through and turned into Instagram Reels and TikToks. Some of it also comes from photographers and videographers I work alongside on the day.

I need someone who can dig through that backlog, spot the best moments, and cut them into content that actually looks high-end, current, and worth stopping the scroll for.

This is real raw footage, not generative AI or stock content. If your portfolio is mostly text-over-AI-images or stock footage, this isn't the right fit.

What you'll do;

• Sort through a backlog of raw event footage and pull out the strongest moments to edit into Reels and TikToks
• Cut 15 to 60 second videos with strong pacing, syncing footage tightly to music
• Apply colour grading to lift raw footage to a polished, high-end look
• Add minimal, tasteful text overlays where they help, not as the main event
• Stay current on wedding and event content trends, and bring that thinking to the edits, not just execution
• Occasionally source or request extra footage from photographers/videographers I've worked with

What I'm looking for

• A portfolio of real-footage edits, ideally wedding, event, live music, or similarly authentic content. Generative AI or stock-heavy portfolios won't be considered.
• A creative eye: someone who can look at a folder of raw clips and see the edit, not just follow a template
• Strong colour grading skills
• Confident syncing cuts and transitions to music
• Genuinely up to date on current wedding/event social trends, not last year's style
• Comfortable with CapCut (my main tool) or Premiere Pro/DaVinci Resolve
• Reliable weekly availability, quick turnaround on feedback

Hours & arrangement

Starting casual, roughly 4 to 8 hours a week. If it's working well for both of us, there's room to grow this into a more regular part-time arrangement.
