Social Media & Facebook Community Lead Generation Assistant – Australian Business
Confidential employer
Job Description
Social Media & Facebook Community Lead Generation Assistant
About the Role
We are an Australian business looking for a reliable and proactive Social Media & Facebook Community Lead Generation Assistant to support our growth.
This is not a traditional social media role focused only on creating posts.
A major part of the role will involve identifying relevant Facebook groups and online communities, monitoring discussions, spotting potential opportunities, engaging appropriately in writing, and helping generate genuine enquiries for the business.
The successful applicant will work remotely and report directly to the business owner.
This is intended to become a long-term contractor position for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and scheduling regular social media posts
- Helping develop useful and engaging content
- Monitoring comments and messages on business social media accounts
- Responding to simple written enquiries using approved information and templates
- Identifying relevant Facebook groups and online communities
- Joining and monitoring appropriate Facebook groups
- Reading group rules and ensuring all activity complies with those rules
- Identifying posts or discussions where someone may be looking for services relevant to the business
- Engaging naturally and professionally in written conversations where appropriate
- Avoiding spam, aggressive selling or inappropriate promotion
- Passing genuine leads and more complex enquiries to the business owner
- Maintaining a simple record of leads and where they came from
- Monitoring competitors and relevant industry activity
- Identifying businesses announcing closures, changes or other developments that may create opportunities
- Providing a short weekly summary of activity, leads and useful market information
Facebook Group Research
Facebook community engagement will be an important part of this role.
You will be expected to:
- Search for relevant Facebook groups
- Assess whether groups contain genuine potential customers or referral opportunities
- Keep a database of useful groups
- Record group size, activity level and posting rules
- Identify which groups allow business promotion
- Monitor relevant conversations regularly
- Flag high-quality opportunities quickly
The objective is quality rather than simply joining hundreds of groups.
Lead Generation
You will help identify potential leads through social media and Facebook groups.
However, you will not be expected to:
- Make sales calls
- Speak with potential customers by telephone or video
- Provide professional or technical advice
- Make commitments on behalf of the business
- Handle complaints or sensitive situations independently
- Pressure people into using our services
Where someone has a genuine enquiry, your role is to make an appropriate initial written response and then refer the enquiry to the business owner.
Content
You will assist with approximately three to four social media posts each week.
Content may include:
- Helpful information
- Frequently asked questions
- Industry updates
- Educational posts
- Business information
- Service explanations
- Community-focused content
The aim is to build trust and visibility rather than constantly advertise.
You should be comfortable using tools such as Canva and social media scheduling platforms.
Communication
Excellent written English is essential.
You must be able to write in a natural, professional and friendly way suitable for an Australian audience.
We do not want responses that sound robotic, overly formal or obviously AI-generated.
You should also be comfortable following approved scripts and knowing when an enquiry needs to be escalated.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with experience in some or all of the following:
- Social media management
- Facebook community engagement
- Facebook group research
- Lead generation
- Content scheduling
- Canva
- Written customer engagement
- Community management
- Competitor research
- Basic CRM or spreadsheet management
Previous experience working with an Australian, UK, US, Canadian or similar English-speaking business would be an advantage.
Experience in healthcare, disability, professional services or other regulated industries would also be useful, but is not essential.
Personal Attributes
The right person will be:
- Reliable
- Organised
- Proactive
- Confident using initiative
- Comfortable researching independently
- Able to follow instructions
- Careful with details
- Professional in written communication
- Able to recognise when something needs to be escalated
- Comfortable working without constant supervision
We particularly value someone who can identify opportunities rather than simply wait to be given tasks.
Reporting
You will provide a simple weekly report covering:
- Posts published
- Facebook groups identified
- New groups joined
- Relevant conversations found
- Leads generated
- Enquiries passed to the business owner
- Competitor or industry developments identified
- Any issues or recommendations
Hours
Initially, we expect this role to require approximately 10–15 hours per week.
Hours may increase as the role and business grow.
The role is flexible, although some activity should occur during Australian business hours so that relevant conversations and enquiries can be identified promptly.
Long-Term Opportunity
We are looking for someone who wants to develop a long-term working relationship.
As the business grows, the role may expand into broader digital marketing, community engagement, lead management and market research.
Important
This role is about genuine community engagement.
We are not looking for someone who:
- Spams Facebook groups
- Sends large numbers of unsolicited messages
- Copies and pastes promotional comments everywhere
- Buys followers
- Uses fake engagement
- Makes exaggerated marketing claims
We want someone who understands that good social media lead generation comes from being useful, visible, professional and trustworthy.
